View Full Version : having trouble smoothing my class assignment

Hi,

I have this one fish that i model and now i'm trying to smooth it but when i apply a smooth on it with division 1 or 2. Some of the polys are still facet. How do I fix this.. see pic.

In viewport my model looks o.k. but when i render it out, some of the poly are facet

I'm using maya 2008. here's a low poly and another with high poly after i apply a smooth with division 1

Hi! Try to check if every face normal points in the same directions...if it's so try to check if every verteces is merged... if everything at this point is correct, try to delete the interested faces and rebuild them, either using the append polygon tool or extruding one edge of a neighbor face...

Make sure that the Backface Culling option is turned on so you can see if there are any normal reversed polys.And as it was said above try to merge the whole stuff and if doesn't help just rebuild that part of the model.

try softening the edges

>normal>soften edge

other things you could do are smooth more / subdivide / displacement map
