What is currently the best folder/file synchronization software for folder/file comparison and backup, and why? In terms of ease-of-use, intuitive interface, speed, features, reliablility, compatibility. I would use it to sync my storage drive with my external backup drive. I'm currently using SyncBackSE but wonder if there is anything better. Thanks.

A few years ago I used SmartSync:

http://www.smartsync.com/

It met all of my needs and was fully featured. I haven't tried any current releases though. Using the task scheduler and the copy command with a few flags can do wonders which is what I use mostly. Or if Linux using rsync or cp with a few flags is also quite handy. Cheers!

EDIT: For XP there's SyncToy from Microsoft, a free download. That works nice too but not as fully featured as most commercial backup software.
