If I use Brazil Glass on the headlight I get this result.

Anyone know what settings to use/change so the inside doesn't get all messed up?

Do I just use a transparent material with white diffuse?

Thanks in advance.

i would assume thats do to reflections and refraction

It might have been just luck but setting IOR to 1.0 did the trick.

IOR of 1 is the IOR of air, i.e. no refraction at all

your problem does not look to be brazil specific though, as it would happen with any raytracer. looks like your little bit of glass over the headlight doesn't have any thickness. you need both front and back surfaces and a double-sided glass material, so that the ray, as it passes through the object, gets bend (what you see right now) and then re-bent by the back of the glass (what looks to be missing).

on the other hand, your IOR could be really off, or the glass object you have, if its already an object with thickness, could just be too thick.

if its just a plane now, check out the 'solidify' plugin to give it thickness very easily.

hope this helps :)

U r right. It has no thickness. I'll give it a go.

Yeehaw... It worked. Thanks a million, and that solidify plugin is just what I've been looking for.

I owe you a beer!

BTW, all your tutorials link to tire tutorial.
