View Full Version : rendering skin settings
jasonteunissen 12-04-2008, 02:18 PM hello belnder community ppl
I am currently working on a character.
I was wondering what good render settings are.
atm i'm using SSS with a texture.
also using a sun light, and thats about all.
It looks quite errrr plan.
also i cant find any good render setting for my scene of good lighting options.
was wondering if anyone has a good skin tutorial and scene lighting tutorial.
I could upload some renders for what i have atm, but not sure if that would help.
I'll keep searching and post anyhting i find here.
hope you guys can help, thanks

thx for the links.
they are very helpful.
I was expecting something more along the lines of change settings to XX and turn on XX
I currently have a single sun as lighting setup
and 3 matariel node setup for the skin.
first is veroni normals and then playing with different shaders for a nice specular.
second is trying to get that back light red skin
and 3rd is a plain simpel skin texture, SSS skin2 preset.
It isn't quite doing what i want, but playing with the settings.
Its all quite, tweak it yourself, I remember old max tuts with things like change settings to XX.
But very helpful none the less, and I'm sure i'm learning alot from tweaking it myself :D
just a pain that the renders take a while with 3xSSS.
Yup, your right, it seems in the blender tests forum,
I managed to copy the link of the wrong thread. :D
as for the lighting, how can you light something good if you don't know the concepts..? ;)

thats true
but its also nice to know where the buttons are :D
still using my sun light and an ambiant occlusion.
might try using some other settings sooner.
finally getting my skin to look a bit right.
ah, so you don't know where the wiki is?
Blender.org wiki//manual-->Lighting (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual#Lighting)
Bledner.org wiki//tutorials-->Lighting (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Tutorials#Lighting)
as for lamp setting, they are found just like material settings are:

next problem
I made some nice skin, now I was wondering how to import that in my current blender file.
is there some kind of option like : save nodes/matariels
import blender file
merge blender file.
something like that to get the matariels from 1 file to the other?
I'll see if i can find anyhting about this.
