Hî everybody.

I would like to know if somebody managed to get this work properly?? I can import the cam data just fine but according to the video demonstration on the adobe website it should come in with nulls. All I get is the cam and the cam shape null. How do I set this up in maya so I can work further on it and add effects? I have a pretty simple animation with 4 cylinders and the cam rotating around it. I plan to put a video sequence in the middle of the for cylinders but it breaks the illusion when the cam passes the first cylinder (it moves on top of it!!) I hope I made my self clear enough
I don't remember that you can set nulls in maya only locators but it doesn't work with locators as far as I've tried.

Hope you can help
Thanks

You need to have "null" in the names of the objects that you want to be imported into After Effects. ie: cylinder1Null. It's a stupid thing that is not explianed properly in the After Effects manual.

oh ok, will it remember the exact location in after effects? so I don't need to manually put it in the right place??

Yes, it will remember the exact position. When it comes into After Effects, and you replace it with something ie: footage, the anchor point of the new layer will be in the upper left hand corner. If you want it to be in the middle, all you have to do is offset the anchor point in After Effects. Also, chances are that you will have to scale the layer down quite a bit. It depends what exactly you're trying to accomplish. If you were trying to track a screen onto a 3d TV you made in Maya, it may be a good idea to snap the null (locator) to the upper left hand corner of the screen. Also make sure you remember to bake the keyframes of your camera in Maya. If you animate the nulls, you will have to bake those keyframes too. The Maya file must be .ma for it to import into After Effects. Hopefully this covers all your bases.

Good I tried it and everything works but some issues occured.

The renderings are appearing flat in after effects and when I replace my nulls with the image sequences they don't fit on the same location as the nulls!! I have a grid plane using it as a floor but it comes in and it's build up like a wall, of course I could tweak it but there must be a better way :)
