View Full Version : r10 to r11 Vista 64 missing texture errors
willsud 12-02-2008, 08:24 PM I've finally  got round to using r11 for some simple rendering tryouts and running r11 64 bit under Vista 64 Ultimate, I keep receiving missing texture messages in r11 which don't occur in r10 or r11 32 bit.
The same texture paths are set up in r10 and r11.
I've tried the Help and usual searches of forums but not come up with anything so far.
Would anyone know any general reason why this should be happening with the 64 bit version only?
thanks.

Maybe you are using PNG or mov textures that need Quicktime to load? Unfortunately Quicktime is not available for 64 bit applications on Windows.

thanks Björn - I've read about that problem - all my textures are .jpg files.
The texture files show up in the material editor - it's just when rendering the texture error appears in 64bit r11.
Maybe it isn't a texture path problem - I notice that the only textures which report errors are chrome and gold deepshade textures called 'Renessance.jpg' and 'Reflection.jpg' (see attached).
Works OK in 32 bit r11 and r10.

"Renessance.jpg and Reflection.jpg" yes, I had the exact same problem and I was surprised to find that under xp64 photoshop CS2 or 3 couldn't open those files either (unknown or invalid jpeg marker type is found), but picture viewer (Quictime) can open them and export to your chosen file format.
Where did the textures came from? Can you please send them to me so we can take a look what is happening? My mail is b_marl (at) maxon (dot) net

Laurent, merci beaucoup
Björn, I've emailed you the file versions I have been using for the past couple of years but they came from here:
http://www.maxon.net/~deepshade/shader/shaders/mineral/011/011.html
Thanks William. I already mailed you the results of the analysis, but since more people might be intereste din this i answer here as well.
The two JPGs uses non standard encoding that is not covered by current JPEG loaders. Chances are they were created with an older version of QT using an encoding that was exotic even at that time.

interesting... I just started up with V64 Ultimate and Cinema r11. Thanks for posting your results!

Heh I also remember those textures. Used Irfanview to re-save the files before they worked.
