Hi all,

I just started 3D stuff this year on maya. This is my first animation and its not the final look that i want but due to the deadlines i have to meet i have to bear with what it is. :hmm:
I am using final cut pro to compile the animation and i can only export quicktime movie. i am using Sorensen 3 compressor but the quality still drop :(
Its only a simple animation and hope you guys will like it plus comments are greatly appreciated. :)
Thank you!

A Hundred over people viewed the clip and no critiques? hmmm... that is weird... i thought i will be aspecting lots of critisims because its not a good piece as i am testing on maya using this project. the lightings are bad, textures have to improve. The only thing i quite like is the animation of the hand. Spend ages to do the rigging. hehe. its not like moving joints to get it moving, not as easy as that!!! Good rigging will allow animators to animate good movements anyone disagree to this?

hehe anyway i will work hard on the next one. Hope that next one will see more comments. this time round is a failure i guess hehee :)

Ok, i will give you some critiques... first of this is only meant in a creative way and your a much better at the 3D artwork than me so dont take this personal.

1)the deformation on the thumbs bot the male and female hands seemed to have a serious flaw in theat the joint where the thumb meets the palm near the wrist doesnt actually move... instead there is an unusual deformation that occurs at the second knuckle of the hand...

2) the walking on the ball part of the animation the ball is rotating forwards and backward but the ball is moving forward no matter which direction the ball is moving.

hey first of all i would like to thank you for your critiques. the feeling of getting no response from the public is worse then having people criticizing on it.

ok i agree with you on the first point. But the second point i don't really get it. Why does the ball always move forward only? if say the hand push more strength towards the back the ball will rotate backwards if it push more strength to the front, the ball will move forward isn't it? hmm.. becos i did try on a ball with my finger and it moves tt way? i might be wrong...

anyway thanks for the valuable comments. will take note on the next project. :)

Oni:

Don't sweat the lack of initial responses. It happens. . .

I like the concept behind your piece! I also like its simplicitly, and I don't mean that your idea is "simple," but the visual style is one that doesn't depend on a great deal of flash to function, and I like the sparseness inherent in your film.

I can tell you put a great deal of effort into the animation. Even if the deformation is off in the area that Scuba mentioned, the length of the film and the intricacy of the finger movements had to take considerable time and attention. Well done there!

Let me know if you plan on updating the animation. I'd like to know!

hey callon,

tt is very encouraging, yah i was abit disappointed with the response initially becos i did make quite an effort on this piece and due to the fact that i am still learning how to use maya. its a nightmare when u have to learn and submit your work at the same time.
i will put on hold on this one because i wish to concentrate on modelling during this break before the next semester starts. i am always checking cgtalk before 'handy love' since i join it and always envy those cool 3d art work done by the talents here.

Therefore i wish to do one as well.. hehee.. i have a sketch on the model i wish to do, i know its ambitious for a beginner but i hope to make it.

Thanks once again for your encouragement, public forums need more people like you for beginners. :)

regards,
Oni
