if my brother purchases the educational version and then upgrades to commercial, can he transfer ownership to me legally ??

I don't think so.

but remeber call maxon, that or read the liscense agreement. It should be in their, however I am pretty sure the its non transferable.

You can transfer your license. I've done that before for extra copy of C4D that I owned but no longer needed. You just need to provide them with a letter that says what you are transferring, in addition to your permanent serial numbers and then that gets sent to maxon to transfer the license. You MUST give him all of the CDs and Documentation when you transfer the license. To make sure, you can email or call Maxon and they should be able to tell you what you need to do to complete the transfer.

Hi,
a commercial license of CINEMA can be transfered to another person without any problems, regardles where it comes from (direct buy or upgrade from educational version).
Visualsee described the transfer process exactly.

You can tranfer it if he gives you the full commercial version, but the old educational license no longer exists. If he signs the tranfer form, he loses his commercial license to you.
