View Full Version : AE render
kiddaz 12-02-2008, 01:19 AM maybe this question was asked before, but ill try to get some luck creating a new thread.
so here is the deal, im trying to render my 14s long composition, but i get a message saying:
after effects warning: a null interface pointer has been dereferenced
how to fix this problem? as i found out myself this error appears if you have compressed audio files in your project, but i have NONE of these in mine, so wheres the problem?
btw ill ask one more question to addition: what are the best render settings for good quality no matter of size?

Uncompressed at the native bit depth of the project. Beyond that - impossible. Each compression and CoDec requires its own specific settings, even more so when different resolutions and framerates also influence perception. Regarding your error: The problem is in a source file stream which must not necessarily be audio, but since you did not provide any more details, it is close to impossible to provide any pointers. The most likely guess would be some index and TC data in captured footage or e.g. P2 files pointing to an empty audio track which AE cannot access...

well, my composition is made from "evolution" .mov files, null object which controls camera , text, solids and textures from evolution pack so i think there are no source files (captured footage, audio etc.) that can cause render to crash at some point. Composition is standart NTSC 29.97fps and i try to render it to .mov and no matter what is compression quality it crashes.
btw, ill write you pm for faster feedback.

Mmh, someone really must talk to Andrew... I've heard this so many times. ;-) In your case, it's probably an old issue with QT'S PNG CoDec acting up (same memory address area used for compression and decompression). If it's not too much trouble, you should attempt to pre-convert the clips to Animation or an image sequence. This might improve matters. If it doesn't, then I have no clue and indeed it would then probably be a good idea to ping Mr. Kramer and his buddies.

P.S.: I never respond to PMs on this and most other forums. It's a principle thing. If you have serious issues, shoot me a mail.
