Looks cool :) but you forgot the weld the area around the chin and the ear is poking through the hat (is that supposed to be like that :D;)) and maybe you could leave away that vertex that stand out under the eyebone.
Still cool head

I thinks its a pretty cool face model. but the hat, is a bit weird. it fits the head perfectlly on the side view. I don't think it look real. maybe you could make it look a little more like in the front view.
some smothing groups would be cool too! any way, good model.
best regards,
Kazuya Mochu
the wings of the nose look strange and the eyes are way too big.
i shouldnt have showed pics soo soon in development :(
anyway, all the things u guys said have been fixed...i hope!
i also started work on the body, anddd smoothshaded it with groups, and did a lil showoff render, ill work on him a little more and show some new pictures of the model without lights e.t.c

You have modeled the face is if it were a high poly model with edgeloops. This is not how you would model a low polygon face because it uses too much geometry. If this model is intended for a cinematic sequence or to be viewed from the face up with much complex facial animation then you would use more geometry in the places needed, but still not as much as you have here. You have a very dense concentration around the eyes and eyelids and also in the eyes themslves.
If this is intended to be an in-game playable model then edgeloops are not the way to go. I would suggest downloading the Unreal Tournament 2003 models (they are available from several sources throughout the web including polycount.com) and studying the facial geometry. The UT2k3 models weigh in between 2500-3500 triangles with approx 500 triangles or less in the face.

Heh funny how people look at these things Erik. Turk developped his model, using crits 'n comments from the polycount boards. Low poly models do need edgeloops, but far not as many as high-poly models do. A better shape, silhouette, cleaner mesh, better deforms and easier to take care of for a skinner, are a few good things about edgelooping. Polycount is completely based of game-art and low-poly modeling. So I think the critics weren't bullshit or anything. Every modeler has his own vision on things, can't doubt about that. But I think modelers should take care of the style used, and not crit a model to their own standards.

How many polys is the head and the overall model?
Looks great btw, though I'm a newb.

Top once again but I would listen to Eric.
Rate the tips from guys that have been doing this for quite a long time and have allready shipped titels before, more than you do others.
This is no asskissing but its true.
k, well the thing is, i get told 1 thing, i do it, and then i get told another, im practically a noob still, i do what u say, i dunno whats right or wrong.
i was told by someone on polycount that my face was really bad, and the mesh was all wrong and was agasint all the rules :\. to make them happy i did it in edgeloops
i personally prefer modeling without edgeloops, i can control the mesh better.
hope u guys like the model, cuz ull love it when JB is done with the skin ;)
thx for all your help :)
