View Full Version : help unwrapping head in maya.
martinf430 12-01-2008, 08:56 PM Can anyone help, im trying to unwrap a head in maya. iv cut the head down the middle and moved it but the unfold wont work. does anyone have any ideas? il post a pic of the settings in the unfold tool and the mesh.

it may not necessarily be what you want to do, but i found blender to be extremely helpfull in unwrapping pretty much anything. the interface is very confusing at first, but it shouldn't take very long to get a rough workflow down that allows you to unwrap your models.

MMB for rotating the camera, shift + MMB for moving the camera, right click for selecting stuff and the rest should be in the part of the wiki I posted above. hope it helps :)
in the UV/Image Editor window you can also go to View -> View Properties you can activate "UV Stretch" to see how distorted the polys are and possibly move stuff around to fix it :)
