Hi
I've never posted anything at this portal, but when new challenge has begun, I decided to register and take part in. (I think the topic is really great :)
For the subject of my work, i've chosen one of the legends of my country. It's a story about Twardowski socerer. According to the legend, he lived in Poland in XVI-th century and he was a man who took a pact with devil. He had a lot of mysterious powers and was flying on the rooster :) After many of his adventures he had landed on the moon, where he still lives :)
I haven't decided which scene of his life im going to draw yet. But I'm sure it would include socerer's rooster and big steampunk devil :)
I've begun with some sketches of Twardowski:
c&c welcome :)
Cool sketchs, like the bottom one the most, the most "sorcerer" of them to me. :)

Good sketches...don't let your concepts be stretched! Extract all the essence from each 3 characters and focus it on ONE GOOD character.
Good Luck!

Goul - thx for comment :)
mrpeace - thanks, that's exactly my plan ;)
I have decided which scene i'm going to draw and I've started sketching. But before that, few more concepts. Here's the first. It's a sorcerer's mechanical rooster. I am not sure about size of it with comprahantion of a human scale. I'm not very satisfactied of this concept, so there would be big changes for sure...

daRoz, decosouza, Sardinha - thanks :)
Few more sketches. This time it's the devil which Twardowski will fight with on the scene.
Comments welcome of course :)

Greetings my fellow kinsman. Your sketches look solid. I kind of slopped a bunch of drawings on crappy, lined paper and scanned it all in. But I guess everyone works differently. I think my father used to tell me of this story when I was a kid. It looks like you will honour the story well. I wish you good luck and I'll be watching you.

Hello
Fine Concepts, I like the Devil with the big belly (the bottom one),...
I'll try to paint a chicken, so mechanical farm rules!!!
keep up the good work

sasquatch70, mrpeace, domoarigato, Jason Ogg - thank you for comments :)
Few fast sketches of whole scene finally. In the legend, the king of Poland asked Twardowski to call out ghost of the queen who died recently. In my version, during the process of calling out, devil will appear, and carry off queen's soul. Twardowski will have to fight with the devil to rescue her.
I think the action would be placed in the throne hall. Maybe i'll move it outside the palace, but i'm not sure yet.
I've made some very simply sketches of composition posibilities...
In the beginnig i liked the second one, but then i decided to try more dynamic perspective. Now i think that the third one is the best, but i'm not sure yet. If anyone has some ideas about that, i'd love to hear it :)

i like 2 and 3 as well... possible 2 would be better for a full on painting?

I like number 1. I think they are all dinamice but the first one has the best composition in my opinion

Wonderful! I like number 3 - ::Thinking:: just my personal choice

My choice is also for no. 3, as long as you move the bird up a little bit to balance the composition and not have the bot standing straight onto the camera, but angled a bit more towards the bird, more dynamic that way. Looking forward to seeing this develop! :D

Great designs my friend, I go for the first and the third perspective because we can feel the massive size of the "monster" and are also more dramatic
