View Full Version : Trouble with lighting
george0485 11-29-2008, 04:22 PM I have modeled a room in Maya and now I am adding light. I have added a directional light out side of the room. When I render it it is like my wall isnt even there. What should I do?

Try this: select your wall geometry and open the Attribute Editor (Window > Attribute Editor). In the Attribute Editor window, look for the tab that corresponds to the name of your geometry with the addition of 'Shape' to it. For example, if your wall geometry is named 'wall', the tab you should look for is the one that reads, 'wallShape1' or something like that. When you click on this tab, a list of expandable attributes will appear. Look for 'Render Stats' from among the list and expand it to reveal the attributes nested in it. If 'Double Sided' check box is unchecked, check it and exit the Attribute Editor window. I hope that works for you.

The directional light work as sun, you have room maybe with some holes (as windows).you must use FG,GI with your lighting...
also try add some area lights or spot lights (put this near to the windows in the room),add some another lights inside to lit the room...
good luck Adam.
