View Full Version : Head WIP
Hi,
I have this head I've been working on for a while now on and off but now I thought I'm going to try to finish it, so any comment or critisism would be very helpful.
My goal isn't to make a very realistic face more of a comical one, but I do want to make it pretty detailed.
And also if someone has any good advice regarding modeling ears witch I think is very hard I would be very greatful.
Cheers
Magnus

That is looking very very good! I think with the ears the best bet would be model them seperately then attach them. The method you use is entirely up to you...use a box primitive to start or model them point by point etc. Just start and see where it goes!

Looking good to me. Sorry no help from on the ears, heck I can't do a decent looking head.
Hi again,
desided to do a different kind of shape on my on going figure.
The "sad puppy" look!

And one more from the front.
Looks cool from where i'm sitting, for some reason as soon as i saw it the name Alfred Hitchcock sprang into my head...*shrug*...i'll put it down to lack of sleep and too much coffee :P

I think they are great. I had to look for a while to come up with something to say to try and help. I do like the first one a lot better but the second one is great too. On both of them the only thing that looked a little off to me is at the bottom of the nose. Where the nostril goes up. It looks very sharp there. It may just be me but do they need to taper in just a little? Great job. I look forward to seeing more and wish I had some advise on ears for you.
Hi,
Thanks for the help and the nice comments, I will proberbly continue on the first shape aswell later since I had a special purpose with him. The reason I changed it is that I'm going to try to add alot of wrinkles and stuff to a model and then I tought the second one would fit better for that.

BTW. I found a ear tutorial at Bay Raitt's home page(it's mirai but gives a nice approatch to how it can be done I think).
animated ear tutorial (http://cube.phlatt.net/home/spiraloid/movies/movies.html)
Saw it somewhere not animated aswell, but I'm sorry to say that I lost the link.
That could be a handy link, i've been dreading doing ears for my alien character and was considering just making something off the wall and "alien like" but i should really try to get to grips with the basics for future use, i cant avoid it forever :S

If you can follow Bay's ear tutorial you're a better man than I.
Yeah I know it's very fast. but I found the non-animation version now.No anim (http://www.edharriss.com/tutorials/tutorial_xsi_ear_model_gif/tutorial_ear_gif.htm)

I love it, he has some real character. No real suggestions i just had to tell you i liked it. Keep working :D
unfortuantely I think the first one was better. Just liked it more but its a nice model. I love the details. A tutorial on how to add folds and wrinkles like on your head would be very useful.

Looking really nice! I like the way the figure express personality. The only thing i would comment are the lips, some more thickness and definition in that area would be nice.
PS. Jag tror vi träffades på 3D-Festivalen :-) DS.
Cheers,
Peder

Ditto! Nice work! :buttrock:
Hi again!
Thanks for all nice comments!
Think this will be the last one before I start texture where I will add the finer details.
I know I might gone a bit over the board when it comes to wrinkles and folds, but then again it was the whole reason with this character.
