View Full Version : Maya 5: Question About Realistic Cable

Hi all. I've got another question/problem to throw out there. I recently went through a tutorial posted on

www.visualart.ro/tutorials/cablu/cablu.htm

and everything seems to have gone well, except the geometry is not following the curve's deformation. I thought I binded them correctly using the wire deform that the tutorial suggests, but maybe not. . .Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas about what's going on here?

i would post this in the dynamics secion, might get an answer more likley.

When you extruded the cable over the deformed curve did you leave history turned on?

Thanks for the tip Levitateme.

Gmask: Ummmm, is there some way I check to see if the history was turned on? I'm relatively new to Maya and still learning its ins and outs. Do you know how I check to see if history was turned on? And, if it wasn't, should redo the cable from sratch with that option on? Thanks so much!

If you select the curve then the mesh of the cable should turn purple showing that they are connected. Otherwise just try re-extruding with history tunred on.

Nah, I got your drift, Levitateme. I knew you were trying to be helpful when you made your suggestion. I'm glad you mentioned it, because I had forgotten about that forum section. Thanks again! :bounce:
