Why do you people post links to packed files? Don't know about others but I don't go through all the trouble of dling and unpacking etc. Why the hell not just link to the movie itself?

packed = 34mb

unpacked = 101mb

For web one should use more effective movie compression, lol.

I finally downloaded this thing, unpacked it, and it appeared to be a .mov file which i can't view (can't install quicktime).

Ugh nvm. At least put some information about codecs and sizes..

Click link, click open, then click movie. Seems simple enough to me. I'd rather click one more time then wait 3 times as long... :annoyed:

Nice reel. You realy seem to have a good grasp on weight distribution.

i think you did a great job, nice animation sequences, and very good modeling on some of them startrek races, not to mention that large monster you had, damn good work :-)

may i suggest useing Xvid to compress? much smaller at an amazing quality (ther is a reason why its divX backwards, much better! and free)

the animation is very fluid and flows well , i like when you showed the biped character jumping over the rail and hitting the car that was funny and i also enjoyed how you made the monster's skin shake when it was screaming :thumbsup:

Thanks guys. I'm glad you like my reel.

I chose a .mov file because quicktime allows you to scrub the animation perfectly. Other media players don't.

It's cool to see I was plugged on the front page. Maybe someone will offer me a job. :)

BTW, I know my weakest animation in there is the dog walking, so I was going to replace it with this morph target demonstration.

the lips, while moving, are not retaining the same volume as the lips when they are in a closed, rest position...that is really throwing it off for me...the lips need to retain the same basic volumes when in motion, as with anything that is deforming...

hope you land a gig...cause layoffs suck..i feel for ya

A kick butt reel! :thumbsup:

The only animation I didn't like was the dog, like you said. The rest was ace.

Cheers,

Check out Quicktime Alternative 1.11 (http://www.softnews.ro/public/cat/11/2/1/11-2-1-40.shtml), it works like a codec and can be played through the excellent player called Mediaplayer Classic, looks like WMP6.4, but offers a lot more.

If you like QT you should compress using QT6 and the "mpeg4" codec, that will make zipping obsolete :) Mpeg1 offers perfect scrubbing as well. I'll download your clip now :D

you could also try out Xvid, amazing compression and can be played with lots of players (one of them is my new fav, Samami2k)

gonna post this while i down load and then post after i watch....i agree with your choice of using quick time cause it is a professional package to use...granted some casual users may not be able to view but are they really your target audience...i have jeard horror stories about people looking to get hired and the work is downloaded only to give an error.....the guy in charge is too busy to download any codecs so it goes in the trash

I agree about the lips. After staring at something for a while you sometimes dismiss or ignore little mistakes like that.

Also you must remember that this is a lowpoly head. About 530 polies for the main head material. I also did morph targets for about 110 characters in EF2, so I didn't have much time for each character.

animation is great man, hate to keep on this topic but im sorry the Mpeg codecs for vid compression suck. Quicktime seems to be the best for so many reasons.

Alpha channels for one. Also, Sorenson for quicktime has much better quality compared to mpegs blockiness. The only problem is you have to zip it. You can't link directly to the file. Does anyone know what you need to make a quicktime movie play in the webpage itself?

I've downloaded your demo and tried to unpack it, but it gave me a corrupt file error. Is there another version I can get, or maybe a link to it online?

You know that CORE's recruiting animators at the moment...and there's a place in new york looking for animators on a feature film project.

Contact dcooray@npuk.com for details.

Hi, I've got QT6.3 and people have mentioned uging the mpeg4 codec to encode quicktime movies.

I use premiere, but when I go to creat a Quicktime movie and I choose which compressot to use, MPEG4 doesn't appear in my list? How do I actually get to use MPEG4 compression for Quicktime?

Thanks.
