I all,

I have just started working with UV Headus but i've run into a problem.

Whenever i use booleans in my model, the uv's in Headus are all messed up. Look at picture please:

I created just two simple cubes and did Booleans>difference
and exported as obj. When I opened in headus I get this:

Hope you can help me out here!

Thx Tom

If you use booleans and then collapse them (export as .obj) then the model isnt clean or structurally sound. Because render engines split polys into tris your model should be made from quad polys. I see a 8 sided ngon in your model, that would mess up any uv layout app.

Thanks for your commend... very much appreciated!

If I increase the divisions it happends less often... but what do you mean with make em quads? Quadrangulate doesnt do anything to the model.

How do I start from beginning: just a simple set up with two cubes and a boolean difference. Whats next?

Help me through the steps please.

Tom

Join yer verts to make quads,... there ya go!

Oke... Thanks Again!

I get it now.. Quads... I have just this extra little problem: :(

How do I merge these verts?

Two options as far as I can see:

Split Poly Tool: That cannot end up in a hole!
Merge verts ... which I dont want..

Thx

Wtf! What app is that? You should inset the poly then extrude it through, inset the poly at the other side and then delete the end polys and weld the end verts. All your verts should be connected so that if you put a smoothing algorithm on it the model would be in one piece. The first image should be ok, only if the verts are not connected should you get an error. You shouldn't be using booleans anyhow, they make a mess!

Did you do the basic modelling tutorials that came with the app?

That's a silly Maya bug for the split tool. It cannot split to a 'hole' in a polygon. Instead select the face and select Triangulate from the menu. This will triangulate the face, after which you can delete the unwanted edges.

Ah so,... at last the voice of reason :D . Disregard my advice on the process as that is for max. Maya comes with alot of great tutorials if you do them you will save much time.

Thank you Marcel, that seems to work: See picture

Want to thank you both for comments and hope it will help others with same problem.

Bye
