This is absolutely amazing. The animation is great, the staging, the camera moves are great too. I love the part where she goes behind the camera then comes up from the screen right side while we looking at the snowman. Only thing that looked like being a bit repetitive was her going out of balance twice. Good stuff.

Fantastic work - it looks beautiful...

The only thing that ruined it for me is that girls voice - I truly pity you guys having to listen to the track over and over again.

It made me want her to end up trapped under the ice, with the snowman just staring down at her.

Incredible quality work ! I loved everything. Tech, animation, render. no crits :)

But what I like the most is the "Direction" and "camera animation", its very smooth and well planed.

Most tv ads have a lot of nice CG chars and effects, but the camera animation sometimes just don´t click with the rest.

It may be just be a coincidence, but as soon as I saw the girl in the SaskTel ad she reminded me of another character, but I couldn't quite pin down which character it was and then it hit me. It was the girl from Monster House. IMO she has a very similar personality and voice to the girl in the SaskTel ad. I really liked the girl in Monster House so I thought this was a plus! You'll know what I mean if you have seen Monster House!

It would be interesting to know if anyone from Red Rover has seen Monster House and if maybe it had an influence on the character.

BTW, is it possible to give us a few details on the modelling process, what software you used to model and animate the characters? Did you use particles for the snow or were they composited using AE etc.

Its one of those instances where you have things in place to prevent it but you get that one that slips by. ;) I had built a little guard around the camera with a collision-Op to stop that from happening, and it did for the most part but you always get that one.

Somethin to remember for the next one, yah? :D

You are more than welcome to swing by Rover and take a quick look at Red's rig if you're still in the Toronto area. For the most part it's quite simple. IK arms, legs and spine, and a mix of blend shapes / bones for facial animation.

One day I'll get around to doing a demo of one of these rigs, I'm running out of excuses quickly.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I got to see these guys do their "thing" in action while working on another project at Red Rover and I am now getting to do things with them on another project and all I have to say is WOW!!! Great work!

Red Rover is definitely a GREAT place with great talents. When it come to what they do they are the best at it. I have never seen commercials as COOL as they do them at Red Rover! I am a fan!
