The viper's body looks good, but you need to understand how the gill covers join the top of the head; also the dorsal fin looks too detached from the spine....the fins are extensions of the bones, after all!
Generally, the scales 'encase' the lower parts of the fins and follow them slightly towards the ends of the fins(ie. more of a 'blend' between fin and body...), especially in predatory fish.
Perhaps a better 'sand/seafloor would help also.
Here's a pic of a Nile Perch I caught a couple of years ago (Uganda) that shows a little of what I mean; when I find a better pic of the top of the fish's head, I'll post...

Hope this helps....

thanx atwookie. i modelled it based on specimen photographs sent from an american institute. the specimens had been preserved so i had to use those pics in conjunction with an illustration that i found.i know what u mean about the gills but i had to model it fast as i had all the animation to do as well. i have 3 diff models .1 is just a head for the close ups n is more detailed using blend shapes for the gills, fins etc in that model.i see your point about the fins.hopefully the next model will be better. as for the scales, there are none, 1 of the characteristics of deep sea fish is having skin as opposed to scales.thanx for the feedback and the pic its cool for future reference.
cheers

generally this is the solution for not working links:
most of freespace providers do not allow remote access via a remote website or a image link.
so this is the solution: copy the link url to clipboard and paste it in a new browser window - press enter and .... way we go... :)
