Hi - just wanted to show some graphic of a freeware remake i'm doing together with a great programmer from retroremakes.com. Is just a labour of love for the old classic Epyx game and all time favorite, Impossible mission. This is still work in progress, as you might noticed. I would love to hear what i could do to improve the layout style.

I like redesigns of old projects, especially with really old games where there's more room for interpretation. We're seeing a lot of this these days with XBLA, PSN, and the handhelds.

This looks nice and detailed but I think you could give it a bit more depth. The desk and printer look a bit cut and pasted on. They also look a bit far down as they're intersecting the top surface of the platform? But like you say though it's still WIP

Modelling/Texturing looking very good though so far!

I think the overall style works for this game, it's got just the right look of underground nuclear bunker (or wherever it was sposed to be set :))

I think thats intentional to show that the desk is deep

"Another Visitor..."

Oh wow... i am feeling quite nostalgic right now.

Very nice 3D Conversion of the robots! Are you allowed to use the original samples? I would really love to hear Dr. Atombender and his evil humming robots again...
Is there a forum or a mailing-list where i can stay up to date on this project?

Great job guys!

Cheers!

Frank

I like the looks of what you've got going so far, bu I'm curious if there are plans to add a minor isometric tilt to the view or some kind of camera movements? The current view makes me wonder why use 3d?

Either way, I think the game looks rad and the artwork is top notch. I know I played the original(or at least the shareware) way back when, this was the one with Secret Agent Sam, wasn't it?

Thanks for the very nice comments Kromano.

We decided to keep as true to the original as possible as we could, thats why we did go for the orthographic view. And ment that we didnt not have to make it fully 3D, kind of overkill as you also mentioned. But i still wanted to make the objects in 3D because i work much faster that way and im not a hardcore pixel artist. Then converted into sprites.

The agents name was "special agent 4125" as i recall.

Looks awesome.

Impossible Mission was one of my favorite games as a kid. I was the neighborhood hero for figuring out how to play and solving it back in the day.

Have you looked at the Impossible Mission remake that came out for the Nintendo DS?

Thanks Anoon - Much appreciated.

I haven't tried the Nintendo DS version, as i have no DS. Only what I've could stumble upon the net, but it looks real sweet, very inspiring work.
Impossible mission has always been one of my all time favorites, even today. Epyx gave me some good times back in the early days. And now i want to give some of that back,
and hopefully foster some new IM neighborhood hero's too.
