Hi!

I'm new on this forum, sorry if I make mistakes but I never get the chance to practice my English, I'm Belgian...
I started using Photoshop somthing like two years ago, my passion for horses and everything that has to do with horses have a very big influence on my drawing subjects^^

Anyway I've just finished this one and would like to have some advice on how to improve my techniques, also I'd like to create a nice background for this one and have no clue of what to do... actually backgrounds are my worst nightmares when it comes to drawing and painting...

As one little picture is not enough to show how people work... below's another one I did last year... there you can see how awful my backgrounds are...

I hope I'll get some answers, I really want to improve and maybe start doing something different with time but my hand doesn't seem to be pleased when concerning human drawings!

The lighting on the horse is VERY nice.

The little bird is exquisite!

You really need to think about your backgrounds before your subject, hard as that sounds. The more you do it, the easier it will get. Trust.
Try looking a Google images for ideas, and simply think about what you are going to paint. Time of day, season of the year, sunny or cloudy, and draw a few rough compositional sketches to give you something to work with.
