View Full Version : Middle mouse button
RKanyama 06-17-2003, 03:07 AM Hello friends,
I have a simple question about the use of the middle button\wheel button. I currently have 3DSMAX as well as Cinema 4D. In 3DSMAX the middle mouse button\wheel can be used to move and zoom in the viewport. I know Cinema 4D already zooms in\out when scrolling the wheel. Does anyone know if the middle mouse button can be assigned to move within the viewport.
Sorry if this has been asked before. And yes I am reading the manual. I'm on page 415 and done with the Tutorial manual as well. :p

No, presently the MMB is only a rumor to Cinema. I believe the explanation is that they don't want to alienate Mac users who might still be using the idiotic Apple mouse. Pretty lame excuse, IMO.

well on pc i can zoom with a mousewheel. there is also two hot keys to zoom. Try hitting 'O' and 'S' and it zooms in what you have selected.
On the Mac you can also zoom with the scroll-wheel. I have a Logitech mouse and it works fine.

I think the question was not about the zoom, but about the pan.
I worked with 3dsmax for a long time and the use of the MMB to pan around a viewport is really handy.
With a mousewheel you can zoom in and out, but if you press the wheel down you won't be able to pan...
I wish this could be customized.
I got used to the shorcut keys:
1 - Pan
2 - Zoom
3 - Orbit
E - Move object
R - Rotate object
T - Scale object
Not the same, but better than nothing, i guess...

Yeah, I know those keys. The thing is I'm just so use to 3DSMAX. Well no big deal. Maybe the next version would have this feature.
By the way, does anyone (Windows) know if the '+' key actually works for zooming in as the manual states?
Thanks all!!! :applause:
