I haven`t decided yet about the certain concept i want work one,
but definitely there was a part of inspiration stories i was trilled by.
The steam powered spacecrafts, travelling though universe.
I wonder how huge and massive those ships might be.
And i think it wasn`t easy to create huge steam powered machines,
As engineer i know that
steam power is the power always related with high pressures and temperatures.
I want to create something very spectacular and original.
I hope new ideas pop up as i proceed through this very insipiring challenge.
My first speedies are about what i call the launch plateform.
The start point of the journey.

Wow- some mighty speed painting!! liked the camera angle & the atmosphere. The only crit I have regards the Hi-tech felling... for now it's lacking the seampunk look & feeling.
Keep up with this cool stuff.

Thanks for critics, Lior.
I think i will work on design more after idea fits in my mind.
I do these speedies to find the atmosphere and the story.
Maybe i change my mind at last and do something very different:)
don`t be surprised guys.
I really like your concepts, the last one in particular as you get a real sense of scale. I'd like to see you progress this concept and add some colour, then we'll get that steampunk feel.

12-02-2008, 04:19 PM
damn, you rock hard, sir!
I love all of these!
Though make sure, you base this on an existing myth or legends, since the rules demand that... Afaik you can't think up your own story really. (which is too bad, I know)

Incredibly well done paintings !!!..
...it's sad that you have no idea what to do with that...however don't forget about the steam and the "myths and legends" feeling that you need to put in your story....i'm sure you will find the way...good luck.

These are some pretty inspiring starting speedies. I agree with lioration that there is a steam punk feel missing and the other posters that there needs to be a myth or legend underpinning the image ... but I see where you're coming from.
Definately keeping my eye on this one.

Guys, thank you a lot with your advices.
I hope i caught the feeling and ideas with previous drawings.
But i realized that my story a bit get away from the myth restriction,
so
finally i have a myth on my mind, which i want to work on using the ideas i had before.
Hopefully will post some speedies related to my myth.:)
And proceed further with your help.

Finally idea baked in my mind :)
I took the well-known myth of lost continent.
The Atlantis.
This misterious civilization was lost centuries ago leaving us no physical evidence of its existance.
How can so technological and sophisticated civilization dissapear without any trace.
The answer is simple.
I my story,
The Atlantis was the first and only civilization that built up steam powered machines.
Steam powered huge robotic Atlants.
Steam was the core of whole continent.
Actually the heart of the continent was the huge steam engine.
Very giantic,
able to generate enough steam power to lift up the whole island of Atlantis.
So combining th ideas i had before,
i wanted to create spectacular shot, showing this moment of departure.
Departure of Atlantis to the unexplored universe.
I want to go further to open my story.
Maybe it was not the vulcano erruption that doomed the Atlantis.
But it was the steam generated by giantic core of the continent that people saw from surrounding islands.
I hope i can develope attractive and interesting story based on my ideas.

Awesome tie-in and another great speedy. Really loving where this is going, still.
I'd be tempted to keep to the clostrophobic atmosphere that you captured so perfectly in the initial speedies, this last one seems to have taken a very different approach. Perhaps some people crouching from the blast in the foreground as Atlantis breaks the surface behind them? I don't know, but I prefered the inital sketches I think.

I am trying to develope my final picture,
I am thinking of some kind of cataclysm,
caused by the launch of Atlantis,
The unbelivable power of steam generated by
steamcore of Atlantis, distroyed near by islands,
Causing distractive earthquakes and storms.
The land beneath the Atlantis was torn apart.

Jamshed, the power and energy is there, but I miss the human involvement - unless those are tiny humans in the foreground, silhouetted? This has tremendous scale.
Very impressed by your control of tone.

I really love where this is going, so powerful and full of action but yet so simple. The only thing that I can comment on is the lack of steampunk feel, right now it's too futuristic / hi-tech but maybe they'll become more apparent when you add in the details.
But it's still looking amazing, I'm definitely keeping my eye on your entry.

Jamshed, the modeling looks terrific. The tilt on the image works really well, but I'm not sure about the blur. I see you want to control the focus of the image and suggest the shaking ground and sense of power, but at the moment it just seems blurry. Hope that is useful and of course ignore it if I'm off base.
I'm really interested to see how you detail this up and maintain that wonderful sense of light from the concepts. Keep going!!
