Title: Get a Grip...
Name: Marco Funk
Country: Germany
Software: Blender, GIMP

Needed a little project to get me started with Blender. So I came up with a ficticious campaign for a new retractable pencil.
The pencil should have a conventional design, made of green plastic, a dark rubber grip and an eraser cap, clip, and tip made of shiny metal.
What I've learned from this: a rubber and plastic effect is fairly easy to achieve -- although the plastic could be a bit more shiny. Metal is way harder. Especially if it's placed on a mirror surface. Couldn't find a spot for something which would be reflected by the metal parts but not by the mirror.

The image was modelled with Blender, rendered with Yaf(a)ray, and a little contrast correction with the GIMP

C&C very welcome.
