hi ppl here is problem:

i have a already done and skined model of the character.
and i have done another model, similar to first.
instead of start skin new model, I think its better to transfer skin weights from already skined one.
it is possible to do in 3DS Max, if yes, how can i do this?

Go to Utilities > More > Skin Utilities.

There, you can find a button for extraction of vertices' weights of a given geometry, and the other is for the attachment of the extracted weights onto the new geometry.

To extract, first bake all the envelopes that still govern some vertices into vertex weight.

To import the weights, align the weight mesh and the new one and import using Skin Utilities.

The first suggestion is excellent, here are a couple more. Skin wrap the new mesh to the old one, convert to skin and then delete the old mesh. Simply copy the skin modifier if the vert order is similar or if you are only using envelopes.
