This is the first skecth for my work in this contest. It's not so good, but i draw it just for fun. Soon will be a 3d skecth that will be more detailed

Hi there "engineers" :)
This will be a great contest, so I also try my best. Good luck to all members! May the steam be with you :)
My plan is to create Atlantis in a steampunk way. This legend says that there is still a big city in the bottom of the ocean. I will try to create it with all it's bulidings and machines etc.
The base concept is to create a huge glass tank, under this will be the city. One of the glass panels is just about to break, so I'll try to creat the moment before the disaster.
Hope I can post today a 3d skecth because I know my draw is not the best
3d skecth: 3ds max
steam/dust/smoke: 3ds max
final model/texture/light/render: XSI
I need to do all the elements that an ancient city has: temples, square, market, arch of victory, factories, mines in steampunk style. And of course other stempunk things: flying machines, trains, boats, and hopefully some mechanical fishes to the environment :)
So good luck to all again and have fun :)

just a very very base color for the structure... it was bad because the model was made in max and the texturing in xsi, but the next models will be created in xsi :)

Well, I have to decide that I'm not as good in xsi to finish this contest in time, so I came bakc to max :) so I'll do everything in max.
This is the retextured version of the frame and I also add the gate.

Hello Csaba,
Excellent texturing, and rendering. I'm doing an Atlantis theme as well. It will be interesting to see where you take this. Best of luck,

Thank you so much ;)
Actually I have some problems... I put in all these builings, duplicate them sometimes, and the max crashed... :S so I think I have to optimize the models, maybe solve these things with only textures :\ now I testing hope vrayproxy will be enough :)

okay, I tested the vray proxy solution, recreate the screws of the frame, deleted some invisible detalis from the arc of victory, and tested the scale/lights.
I'm satisfied with the scaling of the houses, but I need to work more on the lighting. I decided to do low-poly buildings and then texture them up with these colors/windows...
what do you think?

Hei Csaba!
Very nice render! I really like your shaderwork and lighting!
Yeah, you could get away with texturing instead of hard modeling for the smaller windows
if the camera distance is ok, a little bit of bump and you are good to go, in my opinion!
Looking forward to see more updates!
Keep going!

I'm back again with another update :) At last most of the civilian houses are done. The camera angle isn't final. What do you think about the composition of the houses?
Next step will be the mines and the factories...

Hi there!
Keep working on the models. Lights and the roads are done, some other decorations will be on the streets :)
next step will be the path t the temples and trees to the top of the hill :) hope it will looks good.
In the weekend I find out what will be the story of the image. I'll tell when I create a 3d skecth of it :)

This is my idea for the final image. This is a very base 3d sketch.
As you can see I'll create a huge vulcanic eruption, but there will be no stones/rocks, only wheels and springs and things like that. One of the greatest wheel will going to smash down atlantis.
There will be submarines and other vehicles under the sealevel, to fill the whole image with life.
Hope you like this idea ;) need to work much more on this...

I had to realize, that this vulcano stuff didn't fit to this whole thing. So I decide, that I need to rethink this stuff. IMO this version is better. There will be a sinking steampunkish submarine that just brake into atlantis. I hope I can do some waterfall effetcs, cause it will be hard to do :\
How do you like this idea?

I think this is the final camera angle/image setup. You can find all the things will be on the image.
This submarine is just a veryvery previz, the final submarine will look totally different :)
hope you like this

so, I've created the final submarine and the hole to it, and the debris also. I think theres too much debris, so later on I'll make less nad try to add bubbles too. I tested the final colors also, I like it :)
Next step is back to modelling. I'll create some kind of machnine to the top of atlantis, that swap the inside CO2 to O2 from the sea. And I'll create some bench/vehicle/flower box etc...
