Khhsn: The clouds are my favourite part too!
subedei: That's actually the point: it's sort of like a tree-god thing, mummified over the ages, but worshipping the sun as plants always do...following its path over the sky. Isn't nature amazing like that?
Artist-Lounge Thank you!
Rohypnolgod: Thanks!
gavobe Thanks- I get most of my inspiration from 'traditional' painters, so it's not surprising that I ended up creating work that reminds people of the trad stuff... which I'm trying to get back into now, just bought a few watercolor paints yesterday, in fact!
Bobtronic Thanks so much. :love:
xeophex Hmm...it depends on the area. Most of it was just a regular hard edged brush, but for the softer elements of the clouds/snow, I used a soft brush/airbrush. The tree is mostly chalk brush though. (I particularly like the no. 17 in the default chalk section)
poshspice: Thanks, Aly. Coming from you, that means a lot. :bowdown:

Quite story teller too I see! You have these things wondering around your head while your making them? or do u think of them afterwards/before?
Btw you might consider posting in www.gamdevelopers.ie (http://www.gamedevelopers.ie/home/)and www.creativeireland.ie (http://www.creativeireland.com/). If you want to go towards industry in Ireland or connect to other Irish heads

Gavobe::
Ahh, watercolors. I'd love to be able to do stuff like xingyuan jie or kazuo oga, these guys absolutely :buttrock: Maestros, for sure.
Such a cool idea- I'm scouring the internet for an equivalent in photoshop, which I can't find...YET.
I'm gonna have to get myself Corel Painter one of these days, photoshop is great but I'd love to experiment with a few more packages....
subedei::
It actually depends. Sometimes I come up with an idea while walking somewhere or something, other times I'll be screwing around in PS and think 'Hey, that looks like X', then go with that...
I've actually looked at the creative ireland link before but it seems curiously suppressed-- as in there's not much actual (by which I mean digital) communication going on between irish artists. Maybe we need a proper forum like cgsociety? (or the wonderful german illustration forums)?? What do you think? Are you part of any community in our fair isle?

Yes, organic is a good way of putting it. I think being creative is part of an overall mindset that allows you to rejoice in even the mundane- for example, I saw a fat man today and wondered what it would be like to be so fat... (sorry, this post isn't very PC!). This led me to thinking 'If I was really fat like that, I'd stand in front of a crowded elevator just to see their faces when the doors opened and they saw me standing there.'....then I got to thinking about how I could do that as an illustration- would it be better to see the fat man's face (his amusement at seeing the fear and shock in the faces inside the elevator) or the people in the elevator as they take in his size? Hmm....!
....but then the lecturer walked in (not a fat man) and I had to focus on the 'more important' matter of Woodward's rules for enones...

Actually, for more on this matter-- look out for the next issue of ImagineFX as they'll be featuring some of my art and also some of my words on being creative. :D At least, that's what they said...!

As for the other matter--- yes, I got your PM and I fully see your point.

Haha, hopefully! I got a few emails from them, the last I heard they were choosing which of my pictures to use. I'm not counting my chickens until they're hatched though, or in this case, I'm not going to believe they're publishing it until I see it with my own eyes...!
If they DO end up publishing it, you can bet I'm going to get a nifty frame and this time I might even go somewhere more upmarket than Penneys, imagine that!
I have a looong way to go yet though, so I'm going to take this all with a pinch of salt.
Having said that, I'm going to be the first in line when Easons opens with the January issue. :scream:

This is great Theresa, it looks so non digital and somehow reminds me of Jeffrey Jones, perhaps because of the colours and the strokes.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Marioucci! I'm very flattered by your comparision to Jeffrey Jones- he's a hero of mine. I have a long way to go before I gain his mastery though, I'm afraid!
