I can't get matterwaves to work here.
I just put a gradient in the birth texture or a gradient in the size texture without any effect... same with bitmap textures.

I obviously miss something cause I am sure I already made it work !! Too bad cause the mix of Psurfaceposition and matterwaves sounds great.

thanx a lot

what do you need psurface position for if you've got matterwaves?

to use matterwaves, just add an xpresso tag to an object. then add in a matterwaves node, and in the am for the matterwaves node drag and drop the object you want to emit from into the "Object" linkbox... then hit play.

textures will control the birth etc type using their luminosity (the gradient underneath is used to help remap the textures luminosity so you can make more or less particles get born/ have different angles etc).

it's a very fun node, play.

for a fun example download my countdown example from my website.

Thanx Sadie, PsurfacePosition help me to get "ordered" particles to be aligned on the vertex of a subdivised plane.

I would like to play but I get nothing at all, I did exactly what you said. And your beautifull countdown doesn't work either... it crasches my mac when I insist to much.

pffff too bad.

It works now :)
it was the gradient action that was weird to understand. thanx again Sadie. It has to be very contrasted to work, has it ?

Are you sure your file is OK I rendered the film and got a nice black on 171 images :D too bad cause the mov was great.

Well after several hours of experimenting, there is a problem with texture bitmap, you must have black/white files to get any changes in your particle (size, birth, speed etc.) Matterwaves doesn't detect at all greyscales with imported images as it does with shaders.

What do you think ?

Just another question about TP...
When you copy/paste an expresso tag that contains a Pstorm, do you duplicate the Pstorm (making this way a new generator) ?

thanx

hi, sorry been busy with plugin writing. Yes if you clone an xpresso tag with a pstorm in it then it will dupliacte the p-storm too.

ah yes i should have said about the black/white thing with the textures. it is about the white being above the tolerance setting (i think 50%).

anyhow have fun.

Thanx a lot Sadie, you are welcome.

Hi again Sadie,
I can't understand the motion inheritance .
I did a surface position to emit square plane on a sudivised plane, when I rotate the plane the particles keep o their own rotation even with the Pmotion inheritance node active. what should I do to stuck the particles to the plane emitter ?
OK I found by myself by preparing a file to send to you !! I just added an alignement port on theSurface position node... I am slow sorry.

thanx a lot
