View Full Version : Royalty Free Earth Textures?
Elfenlyte 11-20-2008, 06:47 PM Just thinking about it, it seems that the only Earth textures come from NASA or another large company that would legally own the texture/satelite/photographs of Earth.
Are there any royalty-free Earth Textures that can be used in commercial work legally.. that are very high resolution?
In royalty-free stock footage or textures, does one have to credit the company or can you just credit yourself as the creator.

You can find the terms of use for NASA images here NASA web site (http://www.nasa.gov/audience/formedia/features/MP_Photo_Guidelines.html)
Be sure to read the whole thing and call or write to them with any questions, but you can use their images for any commercial or non commercial project so long as you dont use their logo or imply that they endorse your company or product in any way.
Edit: other US government agencies have similar policies, which can make their photo archives a great resource for artists in search of source material.
USGS (http://www.usgs.gov/pubprod/) and USDA (http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/graphics/photos/) are also gold mines for photographic references.
