Hi.
It's a very good start, surface looks very good at this moment,
but it was month ago... where is update??? :).
Continue this work because it could be very good car if you finish it.
PS. Po angielsku bo chociaz moj englisz jest tragiczny :) to jednak to miedzynarodowe forum.

You say you used "Spline/Surface"... did you make a spline cage and then use those splines as a guide for the mesh or some other method of making surfaces out of splines??

Hey! This is my favorite car. You're model builds up nicely. I hope you'll update very often.
Are you using a blueprint? If you are, where did you find it? I'm really interested to it!
Thanks, Marcika

VGTsXVII: Month ago becouse I'm in england right now, improving my english:)
I'm leaving at 28th July, so first updates should be on 29th or 30th.
Vegeta: You do spline cage and then add Surface Modyfier(in Max 3 and better). Modyfier do edges from splines, and polys from holes. Holes in cages have to be 4 or 3 side. Seach for some tuts on net, or look to max tuts.
Marcika: Look at www.onnovanbraam.com or www.surrland.com . If there isnt any I will send you one as soon I'll arrive home, just give me your e-mail

Side (http://poczta.pnet.pl/~varius/evo/side.jpg)
Rear (http://poczta.pnet.pl/~varius/evo/rear.jpg)
I rebuild whole mesh(its edit mesh+meshsmooth now, not surface). I will upload some wires in a few hours.

Hey ppl:)
JDMedia: I dont use boolean, it destroys mesh:) Its all done on Low poly mesh:) Look at new wires.
khang wei:
I have only this blueprint.... and about 40-50 good photos:)
There are ~450k polys of car:) and 200k of wheels(~50k each). Is it good or bad number for car?
I took 7:30min on Scanline and about 3:00 on Brazil r/s(but there are mistakes on some reflections, so here is scanline)

okay thanks... so you modeled every part or did you model the whole car and detached the different parts?
whiteboy
02-09-2004, 05:27 PM
how did you create the mesh for the holes in the hood and front grill. Also how did you create your rims.
Guybrush
02-09-2004, 06:08 PM
the rims look a bit flat
varius
02-09-2004, 06:51 PM
JDMedia: It same thing to me:) Becouse I always make some edge on part end... than I detach that edge as clone and contiunue modeling of next part... a you see I could continue modeling and after that I could detach... but I prefer first solution -> I can hide modeled parts -> max runs faster than:)
whiteboy: here is a litlle tut:
A. Mesh on grill:
1. Make 2 lines, same lenght, same start point, one vertical, one horizontal.
2. Divide them for equal number of segments.
3. Take each second one vertex(PIC (http://www.variusik.republika.pl/evo/tutgrid/1.gif))
and move them into the screen(Z :D). Invert Selection and move them from the screen. Do the same for other line.PIC (http://www.variusik.republika.pl/evo/tutgrid/2.gif)
4. Now take one line and do 15 instances along other line, do the same with second line.PIC (http://www.variusik.republika.pl/evo/tutgrid/3.gif)
5. Select lines like on thisPIC (http://www.variusik.republika.pl/evo/tutgrid/4.gif) and mirror them, on Z axis... That should do...
B. Rim
1. Make little part(I made it with editmesh)
2. Mirror it, and do array.
PIC (http://www.variusik.republika.pl/evo/tutrim.gif)
3. Than you can attach all parts and weld vertexes:)
Guybrush: These are old ones... Ill model new:D

whiteboy
02-11-2004, 11:46 PM
Also when you first created the car you said you used a spline cage. Well did you spline cage the whole car or seperate pieces of it. I am starting on a vw beetle with a spline cage.

02-12-2004, 12:37 AM
Hi. I dont make whole car, becouse ,y PC slows down... I do it in parts so I can hide it...I do one part, then detach one line/edge and start from it another part.
Here (http://www.variusik.republika.pl/evo/lightpart.gif) is light in parts.
Here (http://www.variusik.republika.pl/evo/lightwire.gif) is wire view... part from planes are little crappy... but look good with reflections:D

02-12-2004, 01:19 AM
i have one quesiton on your hood how did you keep the corners sharp after you applied a mesh smooth to it or subdivision. when i smooth my hood it gets round.
varius
02-12-2004, 01:34 PM
Hi. To keep hood square you must have rectangles on rounding fragment(i font know how i should call it:) Here is a little tut for nice seams:
1. Some testhood with fenders:) ->its editable poly
2. Render. It is with meshsmooth but its square.
3. Take two opposite edges and chamfer them.
4. Selec this two edges on opposite side and click Loop button
5. Chamfer selected edges
6. You should have something like this on edges.
7. Add solidify modifier(its plugin, abou 1mb, somewhere in the internet:)
8. Do 3-7 for the fender(the other one is instance clone)
9. Render. Square edges with nice seams.

HI. Sorry for long no-update time, but I'm preparing for final exams in my high school... I have to repeat much material :(
Anyway, here is very little update. I just want to render it with Gi and some shadows, Give some critz(I know that rims are crap, so comment other parts:D)
I must do the tail lights and I'll start interior, maybe next week.

oldfaQ: Let me see... hm... there was one peugot, but it was just a "metal part", and it was crap:) So i dont count it. Then I started Porshe 911... but I havent ended it. And there was a Viper, but it was only a bumper and hood maybe... so actually I've never ended any car before... hmm... there hasnt been any model completed in 50% I think :) So if you count this...yy.. things(i cant call it cars:>) it will be 3... but if you count completed car model, it will be 0 :)
P.S. I you want to have realy nice car, find as many pics as you can... I didnt have any pics(only bp) and did crappy models... now for Evo i have about 20-30 pics... and it comes along nicely:)
