HELP! - Maya crashes when "mayatomr" is loaded!

what version of maya/MR you are trying to load? get mr from alias web site...that one works. If that doesnt help, well, get maya 5...or split your hdd into 2 drives like c and d and install maya on d

weve got maya5 and mr1.5.1 here. the thing is that mr should be in maya5 by default, and i used to have it that way too. but it doesnt work anymore. i have no clue what i could have done to make it like it is now.

my maya is installed on its own partition too...

ofcourse ur killing ur system! ur trying to install mental ray for maya 4 on maya 5...Thats like suicide...
wipe your regestry from any mental ray 1.5, kill maya, all license, then reinstall. if that doesnt help...i donno, but you should not do what you did for sure

well i did it because it was my last option. i think its pretty incredible that maya saves something somewhere despite the fact that ive uninstalled it. when i reinstall it remembers the past path and all.

ive clensed my system (registry, environment variables etc.) of all the things associated with maya and mr (and that i know of) and then tried to reinstall... with this problem still remaining. :cry: :banghead: :mad: :argh: :annoyed:

yes, i think a format c: is the next step here... sadly.

what caused this error i dont know, and thats the whole point here... i have NO clue whatsoever what i might have done. it was not an installation of MR over maya5 or anything like that. first i installed maya5 and MR was there, and after a month or something, it is now gone. im not a frequent user of it either so i dont really know when it disappeared.

i have not made any reconfigurations of mayas core-files or anything.

EDIT: btw, the error (for the record) in this case was: maya closes/quits/crashes when it loads the "mayatomr.mll" plugin.

funny in such cases usually there is most simple solution in this?
did you just try switching between renderers in maya render globals?
cuz there are no miracles

MR isnt there in the list or anywhere in maya because the plugin isnt loaded.
