View Full Version : Combat guys
shaneb 06-16-2003, 11:29 AM Hi all. A whole bunch of stuff in one thread to save on postwhoring. All for a short piece involving lots of cheezy battle sequences with even cheezier death scenes. Mostly just tests but feel free to crit away. The bug down the bottom is one of the bad guys (they will be about the size of a human head and there will be a lot of them).

whooooooooa! Where this come from ? Excelent!
Your models are great, only nitpicking could be the texture
of the 'heads' - is just pinky !
What soft ?
Hope they kick some ass!

Thanks Maximus. The heads are just a placeholder at the moment....the final heads will be more stylized.
3DS Max 3.1...
and I think there will be ass kicking from both sides.:)

Nice style and design. Most impressive.
A decent amount of time has been put it into the project so far one assumes.

understatement in its best years, huh?
you're calling them "just tests"? many modlers don't have such an excellent style in their best years!!! must be really disappointing for them when they see these tests! so post some really serious work, i'm very interested!

If he leans to the right, he will stear to the left. If he leans to the left, he will stear to the right. Isn't that a bit weird? :D
Everything looks good though :)

Thanks for all the comments so far.
By tests I really meant lighting and texture tests (I don't want to sound like an arse). Next will be getting these guys into an environment and animating them...that's when the real work starts.
As for the bikes steering...yes it is a little weird....but I'm pretty sure that leaning to the right would cause the bike to turn right and vice verca.

Hi all....sorry for the lack of updates.
Here is a test of the walker climbing up some debris (proxy boxes at this stage).
Crits welcome. Sorry about the crappy compression I am short of web space.

Awesome..
U must improve the lights/shadows because the scene is not
fitting well IMHO, seems like a mini-scenario...
place 4 dir lights scattered pointing to centre (.12 intesity) , one omni in the top (.3), and a great spotlight with shadows.
Thats my basic set.. (Maya) Hope this help u out... ;)

man i love your stuff, reminds me so much of my childhood with all the gijoes and stuff..lol amazing stuff, keep up the good work.
And BTW the bike that someone said turns the opposite way compared to where the driver leans is not paying attention, it does function properly...
Rock on :buttrock:

Gi Joes are great big wusses compared to these guys:)
And thanks for the support on the bike too...I am still trying to convince another guy on another forum that it would turn the correct way (and would be suicide to ride).:)
thx also to gremlin and golem.
