Title: I wanna fly!
Name: Alexander Lashko
Country: USA
Software: Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush

Hi all!

This idea came to me back in college, while I was doodling during one of the boring lectures. This froggy is very special, he doesn't want to live in the swamp, where it's always wet and uncomfortable, instead he wants to learn how to fly to be able to see the world.
Technical aspects: base mesh modeled in Maya, sculpting and topology in ZBrush. Textured with the help of ZBrush and Photoshop. Rendered in Mental Ray in separate passes and composited in Photoshop.
Thank you for watching! Comments and critiques are mostly appreciated.

Awesome work there, ligthting, texturing, composition, spot on.

My only tiny crit is that the stars look way more out of focus then the trees. This isn't how one would espect depth of field to work in real life.

Alex Bro,

Hey man Love the concept. Awesome to see an idea come to life. I had no doubt that you could pull it off. Character is very appealing maybe you can set him up in a rig or something that would be sweet. Well hey man great to see you work doing so well. Talk to ya Brother man.

that's a great picture with nice rendering and colors.

Thank you all for your comments and feedback. I really appreciate them all.
Morlankey (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=22873): Thanks bud, yeah I'll have to do more research on how the real DOF works. Since I don't know much about photography, I just went off of whatever felt visually pleasing to me. I'll definitely will take your comment into account when creating more artwork. ;)
PhilipR (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=216722): Thanks Phil! Yeah, Jimbo was asking me if I needed a rig for this guy. Maybe I could even animate him. Hmmmm, there's an idea... btw, I just cooked a whole pot of fresh bobotie.
authentic (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=73887) Appreciate taking your time Vince! Yeah, this is the kind of style I wanted to create -- human-ish. Sorta like ninja turtles I guess.
Once again thanks for checking out my work!
