View Full Version : Question about Mapping

On Thursday my copy of Bodypaint arrived (yehaaaa!!) and I'm digging into texturing now...
And here's the first problem:
I want to map a street. Sounds pretty simple, planar mapping and simply start painting.

But: it seems, the mapping is along the z-axis per default, so I get a veeery thin areay to paint on. (With other words, looking on the street from the side)

Any idea, how I persuade C4D to look DOWN on the street when I create the mapping?

Thanks very much

Phil

rptate the plane before applying the texture, or rotate the texture after applyin.

Thanks Kai

Mmmmm... I think I tried rotating the street.. but probably forgot to remove the texture and reapply it.
I'll try after work :thumbsup:

U can very simply rotate the texture, just by typing the correct values in its coordinate boxes, or by interactively in the viewport

The easiest way to rotate the texture, IMHO, is:

* select the texture tag and change projection to Flat;
* make the top view active;
* activate the texture axis tool;
* go to Object Manager-->Texture-->Fit to Region;
* in the Editor window, drag the boundary of the object.

Then, if you want the tex to fit the object precisely you can follow with an Object Manager-->Texture-->Fit to Object.

Thanks folks, rotating the texture axis helped. Now I have a selfpainted, UV Mapped street!!!

I'll try your tips too, Adam, I guess , this could help me to get the texture in the correct aspect ratio.

Thanks everybody!
