Here is my concept for the kings ride.My idea of troy is a city which is at the peak of its power and has highly advanced steampunky weapons, hence the reason for the lion, a symbol of their power. I know its headless its like that for a reason. To show that the king is beyond his prime to use it for any other means than for ceremonies.

Heres the concept for the horse of troy. My idea of having it be more skeletal is for a couple of reasons.I wanted to make it look like it hade been built by portions of their ships and the mechanics behind it are taken from their engines of these vessels.
1. To give a hint that death awaits the trojans.
2. These are soldiers making the horse so there is no need to add any detail.
I will post my concepts for the soldiers and the layout of the scene next. Comments and crit are welcome, Good luck to everyone

Hi! :wavey:
First let me tell you I really like the idea of the horse of Troy, it's a classic. I think you're coming along really well, but if you don't mind a crit:
...I think you have a rather confusing aesthetic coming along, a bit TOO much of a mix of the steampunk with the ancient greek mythology. It'd be better if everything was ancient gree, then SUDDENLY, out of nowhere, you have a steampunk element (the horse). That way, you bring in the steampunk and it's a very obvious element in the storyline, as opposed to being sort of intermeshed, if that makes any sense?

The horse of Troy, coole idea :) I like it. Good luck on the contest, your concepts are great, I like the horse itself, but I think the soldier isn't too steampunk-ish, it looks like some kind of fantasy warrior. Hope you add more details to it
I'll keep my eye on this topic :)

hello
thanks for the support
Csicso3d: Thanks I could see it as soon as I had finished, I think I might have to rethink his design. :)
paperclip: I understand what you mean I might have to simplify my idea...
I'm bit confused of where to go with it on the one hand I can play the scene as though the spartan king is coming in on his mech horse presenting the horse along with many other gifts as a way to make "peace". Thereby allowing there to be a comparison between the more steampunk styled spartan warriors against a more ancient feel for the trojans.
Or the Trojan king has found the horse and is leading into his city grounds followed by his citizens celebrating..
I'm not to sure which way to go..
thanks for the help :)
I will post a basic sketch of the scene and if it all doesn't work out I might change it.

Don't get all hot and confused: when in doubt, simplify. The focus should be the horse, then think about what the horse is doing...are there people going inside? The king coming? Try not to have too many things going on at the same time, the storytelling element is stronger that way. Focus on one 'relationship' between the horse and whatever is going on. It could be that the soldiers are going inside to hide or maybe the horse is standing outside the gates with the people inside the city looking at it and deciding whether to bring it in. Simplify! Then do a few little thumbnails with only the outlines-get strong silhouettes going first... sorry if this sounds too critical, but I really like this idea and I want it to get the best treatment you can give. :D

hello agian
paperclip: thanks for your help :) ... I think your right especailly with such a tight schedule.
After thinking it over I think I might take it in a different direction and dipect the horse of troy being assembled by the soldiers with the assistance of some steampunk machinery. Which would alllow me to use the kings ride as more of a mech pulling the chariot of king Agamemnon and hi brother as they tour the site. I put up a quick sketch soon.

Here are my basic scene layout.
The first shows the king overseeing the build of the horse.
And the second depicts the horse already in troy with the trojan king riding in the spartan kings chariot. Comments and crits are welcome
