it simple beauty - I like simple art it is rare in this time when machines can afford 90 000 000 polys:)

keraj37, thanks for the comment.
The wheels are not connected... they are part of the mechanism of the cable for segment inpulse
like this:

This is several kinds of awesome, I'm only sad you're not in the video category, because I'd LOVE to see those tentacles moving in detail :D

Thanks guys.
salmonmoose, I would very much like to participate in the video category to see the tentacles too excited, I thought better not risk it because my computer is a simple desktop (Duo Core 2.8GHz + 1GB RAM + Radeon 9600), and I believe he did not support the animation processing and rendering.

oneandonlyDiscoStu, sorry man :( , my English is very poor and do not get it right your reply

I'm still working on materials, this is more an update, is all procedural materials. I'm trying to create mud/seaweed fixed on metals

another test with materials

I understand - but that doesn't mean I can't stop wishing ;)

My biggest concern right now is that you're scaling everything, including the gears, once you come to actually running chains down the full tentacle, is it going to be overwhelmed by the size of the chain at the ends?

landim
11-24-2008, 11:50 PM
I noticed this problem today morning, I still do not believe pass this detail so obvious.. :(
Now I have to fix, yet not imagine what is the best way. I tried not to scaling the gears, but has not been good, the difference between the first segment and the size of the gears is too big..
I need to learn another way to make that connection.

Perhaps start with the smaller gears only having 8 or so sprockets, and then as they get bigger changing the amount of sprockets?

You should be able to do this relatively easily and then scale the inner part of the wheel.

Thanks a lot salmonmoose, your incentives and help is very important.
I agree, think this is the really best solution and I started to fix it

I fixed the size of gears, I believe that this solves the problem of the scale of the tentacles segments

If i have any criticism, it would be that the kraken's head looks rather fragile.

However, there is wonderful attention to detail in the piece so far.
