A bit more detail on the monkey king. Added valves, hoses, tubing, (steam of course), and some oriental filigree. Design for his power supply to follow.

Monkey King - final image

My steampunk version of "Journey to the West", the beloved Chinese classic. The monk Xuanzang goes on a journey to western lands to look for Buddhist texts and on his way has strange and sometimes dangerous encounters with all sorts of spirits and monsters.
Although he is helpless when it comes to defending himself, the bodhisattva Guānyīn helps by finding him powerful disciples (Sūn W?kōng, Zhū Bāji?, and Shā W?j?ng) who aid and protect him on his journey. In return, the disciples will receive enlightenment and forgiveness for their sins once the journey is done. Along the way, they help the local inhabitants by defeating various monsters. The fact that most of the monsters and demons are trying to obtain immortality by eating Xu?nz?ng's flesh, and are even attracted to him as he is depicted as quite handsome, provides much of the plot in the story. (from wiki)
Sun Wukong is the Monkey King, armed with his iron staff. Zhu Bajie is the Pig, which I envisioned here as a steam powered monster of some sort, armed with his signature iron rake. Sha Wujing is the river spirit, who I decided to encase in a modified early diving suit. The monk Xuanzang, is still in saffron colored garments. He was able to control Monkey by the circlet Buddha placed on Monkey's head. In this case, I decided to turn that into a remote control. In the background is the Buddha mountain/factory complex where Monkey was held for quite some time before he was released to aid Xuanzang on his journey.

This is a resubmission when I found about about half a day later that the deadline was extended. Added a few small details.
