So, finaly my first CG challenges ! realy proud to be of the party.
And a great theme to deal with, so i'm gonna do the best i can !

I have alreday a picture in head about a norse myth, Ragnarök, more precisely the final fight between Thor and Jörmungand.

"
The two mortal enemies were locked in combat and though Thor did defeat the great serpent, he was only able to take nine steps before falling dead from the venom.

"

My idea is to capture the instant when Thor crush the head of Jörmungand in one strike with Mjolnir his short-handled hammer,
A steampunk robot version of thor and Jörmugand of course but with mood and colors little more close to comics

Alright, i'll update later with references and first step wip

Good luck with the contest to you all

Jo

Looking nice....I don't really know a lot about the mythology of Thor, but I look forward to seeing what you can come up with!

I might have to look him up now!

Cheers...

Hey Jonathon, this looks really good!
I like your portfolio also, the Darkness LOZ has a nice face.
How is vray to use? I'm using blender and there's a new exporter,
but I think it has problems exporting lights, animation, or materials still, so I haven't tried it.
Good luck, I'll be checking this thread out :)

Love the metal details and the look of the hammer, although if I may suggest a more steampunk look...but still it's s superb model.

I'm not trying to be mean, but I really can't tell what I'm looking at here. It's basically a metal tube thing getting hit by something wearing a cape. When you add the serpent head in it looks like the guy in the middle will be almost completely lost. The individual modeled bits look good, but the composition hides everything. I would really recomend trying alternative camera angles.
