Hey all,

This challenge seemed to fun to miss out on.
My team is planning on doing a live intergration trailer with CG elements and characters.

The story is based on the Atlantis myth and sorta a different spin on how it may have been "destroyed" or "sunk" Working on conceptual art and storyboards right now and will post some WIP shortly

Here is a long overdue update.

Plot
Our trailer is going to be based on the legend of Atlantis. In our version of this story Atlantis is a highly advanced civilisation that existed many many years ago. The council of elders for Atlantis have become corrupt. Full of arrogance Atlantis starts to take over other less advanced civilisations. They would take the best and the brightests of their captives to the city of Atlantis and break them down to the point where the renouce their people and begin a new life as Atlantians. When the reconditioning is done they send them back to their homes to rule over their people in a new Atlantian society.
One of the slaves brought to Atlantis to be recondition refuses to renounce his people and their ways and is thrown into prison, forgotten. Through a series of events this man who has stayed true to his people gets free from the prison and seeks to destroy the city as it is the only way to free his people . . . .

That is the main feel and background to our story and the trailer/teaser will try and create this feel.
The trailer will sorta follow a similar fashion to the first Mission Impossible 3 trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/missionimpossibleiii/)

We are currently working on conceptuals and storyboarding and will post some images shortly

On the surface Atlantis is a utopian society. The council want to keep this appearance and so have invented Spiderbots that control the population without people feeling like they are been controlled.
Hope to have a big scene with heaps of these guys coming after our hero

Things have been a little crazy for us over the last few days but we've managed to get this concept out for our main evil spiderbot.
Vflanagan is our concept artist and did this.
We are also relooking at our storyboards and idea for movie as our old one started to get a little out off hand and to big for us to complete. Hopefully get that all sorted shortly and be able to post some storyboards soon

like the robot design, but maybe it is not steampunk enough yet, looks very sleek. need some more cogs :thumbsup:

Daniel: Thanks for your comments. Yeah it does look a little to sleek maybe but when we get into modelling and such there will be a lot of work done on the spiderbots underside to give it more of a steampunk feel.

Thought that I'd just quickly mention our team:

VFlanagan: Concept art, storyboards, matte painting etc
NikkiNZ: Filming, editing
Me: All CG elements

Possibly be getting a few people in at a later date to help with compositing so might update the list a little later

Finally got around to submitting a WIP on the spiderbot. Spider needs to be able to fold into itself and becomes a pendant. Working on rigging at the moment to make sure that it can fold into itself before I finalise the model and start texturing

Here is the bginning of the boiler room concept. This would be one of the engine type rooms used to run the city of Atlantis. In this scene we will have our main hero been beaten by a couple of thugs.
We filmed the majority of our footage earlier this week. Will post stills of shoot later
