Hey Dudes, its been awhile since i posted here but i really need some help now.I have this model based on an older concept of mine and its so close to being cool. It is driveing me crazy. I am not very good at textureing metal, allways looks like plastic. Also the bones look good close up but from a little further back they look to smooth and shiney i think. I plan on darkening the bones all around, just to bleached now. Might look beter with some dirt and slime on them

Looks very good, nice job! You can try to make a fleshy armour, a mixture of, say, rusty iron and parts of dark red flesh on it, with torns sticking out of it . That should make it nice and scary. Hope i helped a little

Cool Idea Zipel, The first concept had a skirt of bloody human faces all stiched together.

I played with the bone textures a bit, added more texture and dark colors. I think it looks beter now, also i droped the spec. levels down. here are a few shots, i also updated the armor a bit too. I used way more contrast in the diffuse color and way more noise, scratches, etc..

Yes, now the bones look way better! Try adding more small details, like an ancient amulet, or something like that and chunks of dirt on the bones (to look like he just rose from the dead). Keep up the good work, i would like to see him finished

hey man looking awesome as usual

as for the metal, it's my impression you can only do so much that reflective look when solely using a diffuse map. Are the highlights painted into the diffuse?

Lookn' Good! The new update is an improvement. I liked the green glowing effect you had with the first image. I think you could push that even more so. I think something like some souls leaving his body or floating around him would be cool. Keep it up!

Nice work! As one professional to another, here is my critique of the Litch King. Hopefully you will find at least one useful nugget below.

I really like this character, however a few more small touches could make him look even better. I would expect this dude to have some major battle damage (more than you already have) and as you've already mentioned a bit of dirt and/or dried blood just to spice him up a bit and make him more menacing.

Good attention to detail and anatomical correctness with the bones, I can tell a lot of effort was spent on that.

It might not be the look you're going for but I think that if you tattered up the purple cloth and made it look like it was really old and decomposing, it would keep it from looking too pristine.

I really like how the smoky effect that runs over his face gives the impression of flesh by contouring around the nose and other things that are no longer on the skeleton.

One thing that you can do to make the metal more metal like is add a reflection on it with the help of an environment cube map. Game engines these days have no problem with rendering these kind of reflections and even take into account the normal map when calculating the reflection.
