Hi all, first of all, sorry for my english. I'll try to do my best. This is great site with alot of great artists and paintings. I prefer 2D environments at this time.

Few days ago I bought tablet, before that I drew apple and lighter with mouse using photoshop. I have read lots of tutorials about perspective, light source, atmosphere effects on paintings and so on and I am willing and ready to learn more.

This is my first "sketch". Ok, it's not a sketch i draw it almost 5-6 hours and I am very slow with it atm, and it's far from finished.

Comet (meteor) hit near city and some parts of it spread around and on the city.

Any comments and critics are very, very welcome. Thanks all for your time.

I left layer with perspective (2 points) lines to show you, too.

Hey there PanicAttack,
Your image doesn't show because you must post at least 2 comments first before you can post an image so get your first couple of posts out of the way and then try again to post your image. Good luck

hi there!
i think its great for your first image with the tablet!
the perspective is good and i like the atmospheric smoke. however i think there could be made some improvements on the lightning:
your sun is yellow which is kind of odd cause the atmosphere should filter the sun's light in a more orange or red direction IMO- your buildings have this color too- maybe you thought of it already...
i dont know what your intention with the meteor was, for me its unclear if this is just a part of the whole meteor which crashed in the back (crater) or if actually this part IS the meteor...

thanks for comment and crits. I am new in digital paintings so appreciate it alot. it is sunset, so orange or red is alot better then yellow, i'll change it.

place where meteor hit is below the image of sun, but the parts are on the city (fire and smoking) and one of it is by the road.

this is copy paste from another forum that I wrote: Things I still dont like is color of big highway, "position" of other highway when it became curve while coming near the city. Impact hole of meteor, some friends said it doesnt looks like huge hole, I agree. Far part of the city is somehow geting lost in perspective, smoke on the nearest part of comet and so on...

What's that...big grey lump? Is that supposed to be the meteor? 'Cause if so, there's some issues. First of all, meteors don't roll after they strike the earth: you've got your impact point, and right in the center, you've got your meteor. Second, a meteor that big would cause a much, much bigger crater--as in, this whole scene would just be crater, from this position all we'd be able to see was heat glare and vaporized rock, it wouldn't be a picture "of" anything. I'd take out the meteor and the carved out trail altogether and put something else in the foreground to anchor our eyes. Maybe another impact point, with a much smaller rock?

If it's NOT the meteor, I am back to asking what the big grey lump is. >.>

Yay! Great. Nice critics.

Ok, that grey (metal like) big piece is one part of the meteor. It broke apart from the "main" meteor when it hit (up-right corner on pic) creating another, smaller impact point. Still havent draw "main" (dont know how to say it in english) meteor. But you are right, it definitly cannot just roll on the ground like that. Even if the strike point isnt 90 percent degree angle.

Thanks mate for constructive crits, I will work on that pic more today.

cheers.
