Here we go!
I'm thinking of doing a version of David and Goliath using 3dsMax. Nothing fancy, just a fight between an older man (David) and a machine (Goliath).
I know David isn't supposed to be old, but I kind of like the frail look of older people.
So the story would be: A tribe of humans and a tribe of machines gather in a place to do battle. Each tribe picks a champion to represent them, and they fight. In the end, the victor chooses the terms of surrender of the other tribe. Alhough I think I'll have them tie, so another fight must begin with new champions.
Good luck, everybody!
Here's a first sketch for Goliath.
The machine tribe will feature several legendary creatures or chimaeras, like a harpia, arachne, centaur, etc.
So... time to kick back into gear again!
I've changed my mind about the David and Goliath story, instead I'm going to do the story of Adamastor, out of the Portuguese epic "Os Lusíadas".
It's basically a mythologised retelling of how the great Portuguese explorers passed the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa (then called the Cape of Torments! spooky!).
So, the synopsis goes...
A submarine travels along the uncharted coast of South Africa. Encountering some rocks and shallow waters the captain decides to emerge and hoist the sails. Upon approaching a steep cliff, the weather suddenly worsens. The crew decide to cross the narrow straight between the rocks and the cliff, as this is the only visible way through.
As they begin crossing it, an enormous figure appears from the shadows behind the cliff - the Giant Adamastor, son of Terra. The mad Giant confuses the ship with a whale or Narval and starts threatening it, claiming the Cape as his domain. The ship's crew is horrified and amazed at the same time. They introduce themselves and request that the giant do the same. The Giant tells his story, from birth, to Passions to being outcast. While doing so, he kicks the rocks and the earth shakes and crumbles (Terra). Then he sticks his hand into the clouds and causes a lightning that collapses the mast of the boat and throws it along with the sails onto the rocks.. He waves in the air and creates a gust of wind that tears the sails of the boat. Finally he dives his hand in sea and creates a giant wave. When it cries, the rain starts pouring heavier.
The giant sees the sails floating on the water and confuses them with his beloved nymph Thetis. Distracted, he ignores the passing ship and slowly moves towards the sails' mirage.
As the ship crosses the straight, the weather suddenly improves. Looking back, the crew observes the giant's figure, now turned to rock, bending over the sails on the rocks.
The adamastor giant will be very large (100 m tall) and styled like the clunky steam engines of old.The ship is going to be a small hybrid of a submarine and a sailing ship, mainly bronze and wood.
Concepts coming soon...
See ya all and Happy Holidays!

Interesting sketch, I wounder how your steampunk version of David will look like.
I'm not going to do David and Goliath anymore. This is the main character of the new theme, Adamastor. I wanted to give hi,/it an appearance of clunkiness. It should be a pretty big robot, about 50 to 100 meters tall. (15 to 30 storey building.
Ok, I?ve done a pretty basic storyboard. It'll help me get a grasp of lighting, proportions, layout, etc. The drawings are pretty rough, but serve their purpose, I guess.
And here's the whole storyboard, quite downrezzed...

Great story boards.
Here's the concept for the submarine/sailship. A happy New Year to all!
