Cloverfield makes a return lol! Hmm this looks just as cheesy as the show. Not a fan and this won't change things.

Looks like a great Rebooting of the series. The concept of a TV series to follow would detract from this though IMHO.

Cheers, THOM

NO! WAIT! GOD'S NAME IS NOT IN THE CREDITS! STOP THE PICTURE! WHERE IS BILL SHATNER? OMG THIS IS ALL WRONG! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :scream:

Seriously, this is going to own 2009. An epic trailer that tops it off with that special Xylophone theme right at the end. This is more than I could have hoped for Star Trek 11.

I have never had any interest in Star Trek, I've always been a Star Wars person.

However, this trailer kicked my ass. I really really want to see this now.

Those space battles look fierce. I'm not a Star Trek fan, and this trailer made me want to see it.

Although Leonard Nimoy is one of the coolest guys on the planet for this reason:

Oh man, this movie looks really cool! Now i only hope the story will really be good.

Especially the part where they show Enterprise being built on Earth really looks epic! In any case, i think this movie makes ST look much more realistic or beliveable, if you will.

I'm also glad there are many non-ST fans liking this movie.

... wasnt kirk living on tarsus IV around the age we see him drivin that car off the cliff? maybe if they would have brought more food and less vintage cars and hover bikes to that plannet they wouldnt have had to kill like 4,000 of the people livin there.

It does look cool though. just dont know how close to the history of trek they are staying.

Its a reboot. From what Ive seen they are pretty much ignoring the canon 'back story'...which I have no problem with.

This looks amazing! First ST movie Ive been excited about since First Contact...bring on the Trek!

Am I the only one who thinks that the opening with 10-year-old-bada** Kirk is one of the cheesiest things ever? It also kinda looked like Michael Bay was directing with him jumping out of the car in slow motion ... I seriously lost almost all hope for the movie after that. Granted, the rest of the trailer almost made up for it...almost.

RobertoOrtiz

Well the jumping off the car is something that I really liked.

It is perfectly on target on the force of nature he will become
when he grows up.

Now, this is the stuff I find funny.
A bunch of non-fans of Trek getting excited because the upcoming Trek is a departure, and because it's no longer representative of Trek NOW some are looking at it.

And then there's fans of Trek who are skeptical- and are scorned upon.

Yeah, once these people weren't on board, but never received the frown- but now frown upon the others that aren't officially onboard yet.

Personally, I'm taking a wait-and-see. I have my skepticism, yes- but the final story has yet to be told. things will probably turn out well for the skeptical fans after all.

I forgot Abrams did Mission Impossible 3--which I liked quite a bit, except the part near the end where Tom Cruise has a few seconds to fry the chip in his head and he pauses to say: "Wait, wait....I love you." It made me laugh, but if that was the intention, then ok. lol

I think the farm boy of Iowa stuff reminds me of Luke Skywalker dreaming about space battles on Tatooine.

Visually I am sure it will deliver, and it looks refreshingly lively especially when compared to the NG movies, but the question is if it will deliver in the dialogue scenes. Mission Impossible was dumb(but well made), I never considered Star Trek to be like that.

Quinto is close enough to a Spock based on the images, but Pine doesnt give off a Kirk vibe at all.
Recasting them is like recasting Dirty Harry.
Its really hard to see anyone else doing the part unless you havent seen the original.

But for people who have absolutely no knowledge of Star Trek it'll probably be well received.

If they plan sequels they better lock the cast into salary caps or they will not have enough money to sustain the fx and it will get cheaper and cheaper like the other movies did!

As a stand-alone concept, not attached to what had come before, this has immense promise. If I attach it to what has been known as Star Trek, I'd probably be ticked off.

I like it too and can't wait to see it.
Just two things tho. I don't wants to sound like a Trekkie but I thought Kirk can't drive? In the old t.v. episode where then went to a planet inhabited by alien who mimic the 30's gangsters. There's a funny part where Kirk was trying to drive and Spock was in the passenger seat.
The other thing is, in the opening trailer with the teenage Kirk driving the car reminded me to much of the opening squences of Disney's Treasure Planet where Jim Hawkins flying his futuristic surf sail and later got caught by the robot police.

Well,i dont know the first thing about Star Trek (as a kid,i always thought it was a bad imitation of star wars :p ), but im going to see this, cause of jj abrams and because it doesnt have anything to do afaik with any star trek thing that has come before it.

That part in the trailer where you see the two ships (or pods or whatever) closing in really fast to the camera and you hear the two WHOOOSHES perfectly synchronized with the music made me go... woa...

It seems that simon pegg will be a real joy to watch in this (as he usually is).And also,i cant stop seeing sylar everytime quinto appears (maybe cause i havent saw him do anything else than heroes).

So yea, im there :)

I was never an Original Series fan (by the time I was old enough to understand ST this series looked like pure crap to me and I simply couldn't get into it), or even a Enterprise fan, although my dad was real big into it, I was just too young to care. DS9 was boring as hell for me and I could never stand a full episode, but I am a HUGE fan of the Voyager series. The crew was awesome, the cast rocked, and you connected with the story.

With that being said, I know nothing of the past back stories of Kirk, or any of the other Star Trek movies. I only saw the latest one and thought it was alright. So them dumping the old story and going with a new one is fine by me, as I don't even know what the old one was, lol.

Looks wise, this has it all. Amazing space battles, fast paced chases (in space not the lame car scene), and the CG of the ship being built has me looking for a new desktop image. I will for sure be seeing this in the theater, and plan to be blown away by it. I just hope it isn't filled with cheesy one liners and lame monologues.
