The pap

As a relatively new user to 3D Studio Max, I feel that it is very easy to be lost by the terms people use when answering questions.

(I would like to add that i am most grateful to people who have answered my own questions, you have been of great help!)

Although most terminology can be found when searching among threads, its often quite difficult to easily find a description for it, even if it does exsist.

---------------------------
The Aim

I am going to try and get the ball rolling and start (what might be eventually)a full description of terminology, with supporting graphics, written in a simple, easy to understand style.

As I learn I hope this thread to expand, and I welcome anyone to add there own input.

---------------------------
The Guidelines

To make this as useful as possible for everyone (including newbies) PLEASE try and keep to the following rules

Keep a consistent style in how you post your term.

Keep the description simple without going into a great deal of depth
(obviously depth is great, but i feel that people would use this thread just as a quick resource, including a hyper link on more information would be extremely useful)

Include a supporting image if possible.

Please do not go off topic.
Keep this as clean as possible! If you have any suggestions dont hesitate to email me; james_bending@hotmail.com

Keep it friendly
If you feel someone may not of described something correctly then it would be useful to private message them with your own. Alternatively if the term hasnt been changed for a while then you can bring it forward to the thread, with your own description, although i urge you to keep it clean and not to go off topic.

---------------------------
TIPS

If you are looking for a specific term then using the FIND command intergrated with your internet browser is always good.

Either press Ctrl + F or go to Edit > Find in this page

(Im using mozilla on a PC, it may be different according to your particular browser)

---------------------------
Thanks

Thanks again for your help and support.

I hope this thread will prove to be a useful resource :)

Here's a glossary I made awhile back. Not 3ds max specific, it is more for artists working in real time 3d.

An Artist's Real-Time 3D Glossary (http://www.ericchadwick.com/portfolio/glossary/glossary.html)

It is a bit old, needs updating. But it does have some good content. Feel free to grab terms from it to post here.
