Hi all,

i thought i would try modeling a normal car for once instead of the ferraris and maseratis that never get finished.
it's still early but i thought i might as well start a wip for it now rather than when it's nearing completion.
it's modeled in lightwave 7.5.

Thanks,

Will

so here it is...

Hey, same here :)

That's why I'm building normal cars, too

As for the model, I'm not sure how the actual car looks like, but, are the creases on the sides supposed to be there?

Kinda sounds like a stupid question;

But looks good so far, keep it going! :scream:

Thanks,

do you mean the tight crease that goes up the side of the bonet from the headlights?
if so then it is, but not that sharp, but i'm ging to remodel the top of the bonet once the bumper is finished. :)

Cheers,

will

here's a small update, i've added temporary headlights just to give a feel of what it will be like, also the long grills at the sides will be remodeled.

Low res render:
It may look a bit squashed because i had to resize it, i can't tell...

I looked at some pictures of this car up on image search,

and realized that this car really IS fat. (Cuz I was about to mention that car looks fat :p)

Keep it going! :scream:

yep, quite a fat car!:p

I've been very pleased with the way this has come together, although i won't be able to update it for another day becaues i'm on work expierience now, it leaves only an hour or two a day to work on it.

Thanks,

Will

That is looking nice unknown limit:thumbsup:

Are you going to make the old GTV or the new one. The only thing what is different is the nose of the car. The new version have a nose like the rest of the alfa (156, 147)

if anyone's interested i'm thinking of making a tutorial, it would be aimed at beginners, and cover the whole moddeling process in detail.

what do you think?

cheers,

Will

btw, its modeled using the point by point method.

Hi,

i've just started working on it again, and have now just about finished the exterior.
i will start work on the interior soon.

i have had my first try at modelling the tread on the tire, and i have improved the front of the car, but there's still some tweaking to do on some of the edges.

btw, i had to take all the other pictures off my server, ill put them back when i have some spare time.

at the moment i'm testing out different colours and hdri's, this colours alright but the reflection could be better.

here it is...

What are you talknig about, "normal car"? It's a sports car, at least it performs that way :-)

When i first saw this thread i thought you were moddeling the really old GTV:s, by that i mean the GTV6 or the GTV 2.0, and i must admit i was a little bit disappointed when i saw you werent.. Anayway, great modelling!!! :buttrock: :buttrock:

It is going the good way . But maybe you could take a look at the back of the car. It doesn't follow a straight line. I put an attachement with it what I mean.

The wheel are looking good. Don't forget to put the Alfa-sign on it. And give them a more shinny material.

I don't know if it render faster, but the reflection material is looking very low. I can count the pixels :p.

But the rest of the model looks very good.:wavey:

thanks guys.

mr. nice guy:
i can see what you mean, i'll make sure that it gets corrected. thanks for pointing it out.
the reflection is looking like that because of it being low poly,
low poly in the sense that it's not completely smooth. i'm quite amazed that it looks that way even though it's 1012919 polygons.
i can't increase the amount of polys at the moment as it already takes 45 minutes to render.

Cheers

Will
