We got together last night to drum up some concept art for the Argus (thousand eye monster)and here is one of the concepts. Kinda thinking along the almost complete robo-steam/ Ray Harryhausen type look....We did quite a few ...so heres the first.
11-21-2008, 05:52 PM
Woah awesome....and gross! :D
11-21-2008, 07:47 PM

11-21-2008, 07:53 PM
Loving the concept art, a lot ! Can't wait to see this develop
12-01-2008, 02:04 PM
More concept art for the Argus. Not really sure which concept we're going with, but we got a bunch to choose from. We really gotta get cracking though, short schedule. Hopefully we can throw up some modeling WIPS later on today.

Great characters and rendering style. I wait for the super actions of the animation! It wont be easy, but if you keep this quality, it will be AWESOME!!!
Spint that gears!
12-04-2008, 02:22 PM
Ok.... Started to model on Thor a bit. It's coming along but just takes a while with all the straps and rivets and buckles (the stuff that makes your model look cool). Hope to have him finished in a week or so and we'll be posting modeling updates everyday from now on.We only have two characters in our battle between Thor and the Argus so we are trying to really get detailed. Crits and Comments Welcome.

A close up of old Thor's face. We're moving along pretty good with the environment too.I'll post some pics of that too soon.
I really really liked the concepts (because of the special cartoon style you have) and I was still excited when I saw the armour wips. That will be frenetic!!. But this face is a completely other direction from what I expected. It's not a problem though that it want to be realistic, but the style of the sketches could have been really amazing in 3d.
Best wishes to you guys... I will check the enviroment and the monsta as soon as you publish them... you are in my feed. :)

Athtough tw work is sofar great, I agree with Kynu that it would have been more interesting in the original style. Its all good never the less.
12-11-2008, 08:58 PM
I co-sign Kynu and Airflow words. Thors head model is really good from a technical point, but it dosen't have anything in common with yours great comics concepts.
12-12-2008, 11:59 AM
Thanks for the comments so far guys.
As for the concepts being in a comic style, that's just the way
I concept everything because I was into comic book art
before I began 3d. After the comments though, I suppose
it could have been cool to have this as the 3d treatment to

Just assembling the gear now....Gotta get more straps and gears to pull of the steampunk look.
Very good modeling, full of details! Good luck!

damn, very stylized sketches with wonderful feel and superb modelling.. this gonna rock :) I hope you will push it up to the end. As it was written concepts are far from models in style and mood, but it's just a beginnig, so I hope it will match later
12-13-2008, 05:05 PM

12-14-2008, 12:33 AM
Excellent modelling, it hurts my head to see how detailed you're getting on this one - good job you're only doing two characters I reckon!!
