Nice to hear from everyone and join the party again. I will have something up this weekend if time allows. I got to figure out what I am going to do first though to break the ice. I promise to finish this time. Nothing else better to do.

Hey, Bryce, looking good! I can't yet tell what's going on with the guy in the foreground - he looks too forward to be trampled - but the hero pose (horse and man) are good and the low camera angle is effective. Good luck and have fun!

Walrus- I still think the composition is a bit stale for my taste. I am going to work it a bit more to get it better. I am glad that the basis is good and working. Now it is just getting it better.

Slav- Yeah they are. Try steampunking it up.:scream:

Zapan, Ataulfo, Anatomista, gpepper, thanks for the warm welcome as always.

Neubius- Its going. Thanks and its great seeing you here again. I will stop by some time. Not enough time at the moment, I am getting yelled at. LOL.

Hey Bryce,

I really like your concept, cool!! Great composition on your image, The pose and gesture for Crazyhorse is reall great, perhaps one of the steam horse hands (front legs) more rised, to dont look a bit simetrical on the position with the other, only a comment :) Looking forward for more updates! Cheers!!

lynch- Thanks for stopping by jason. YOu have something cooking at all? I check around.

Ferx- I don't want to exaggerate to much because of horse's anatomy, will try it out though. I will try to figure out something so I can kill some of the symetry. Thanks for the crit and comment.

madshooter- Update coming soon my friend. I will check out your thread.

Going great! you are really making it look like thick oil paint, the nice dynamic way of the good old western painters.
One comment: I'm having trouble telling if the dark cloud going from the head of the horse to the top left corner is smoke from his machinery or just a dark cloud in the sky, this probably because it follows the general direction of the clouds and also the level of dark of some of them. If it's smoke, it would be more closer, is making it follow a slightly different direction would help you set it apart from the BG in his own plane.
This is very interesting, you're doing a great work with it!

Hello Bryce,

this looks very promissing! with the aditional time it will for sure be a nice one.
I´m very impressed because it´s not an easy deal to combine "western" style with "steampunk".

Your Horse looks for sure cool! If i can give you a tip I think a complete dark looking Steamed Horse would give your scenery a little more dramatic. Kind of a dark rider against the white Ranger.. what do you think?

Wish you good luck and a lot of inspiration!

Cheers
Fabien

Hey Bryce thanks for dropping by my thread. Your image is really coming along! As for some crits... cropping the image a bit may help the viewer focus on the main characters? Man that Guy is really gona get nailed haha.. he's about to get 3 arrows and one tomahawk for good measure :) The guy in the blue... his legs could do with some foreshortening perhaps... it would really convince that he is falling back. The indian on the right .. his foot seems to be clashing with something hanging from blue guys backpack?.. I'd get rid of that. The guys in the foreground are in shaddow.. maybe show some tree branches overhead in the top corners? which may suggest he's been ambushed from the tree's. It may be cool to see the steam/smoke coming from a few smaller exhaust pipes rather than one big one in his head? It would also control how much is actually pumping out of him.

Just a few ideas.. hope it helps! good luck :D
Edit: oh yeah I totally agree with Fabien... make the horse darker.. like a black stallion.. great contrast!

Hi friend.happy new year! This is cool concept and nice painting.I like that steam horse. The guy who holds the axe in the foreground seem to me he doesn't give his attention to the gunman.Just my opinion.good work anyway.keep it up and good luck.

Neubius- No worries Alwin. I've not been here to do much of anything myself. I just got inspired to finish this image. I've been on a long painting drought for some time. I was getting bored with it and life has been a drain. But, I'm all good now and ready to throw down. I'm trying to make this a good one, try to get myself better. I forgot to have fun with painting. It's fun again now. Yay! I'll drop by your later to see what is up with your entry. I've already left something there in your thread yesterday I think. Thanks for the comment. It was no easy task to get a cool interesting design with the horse. I myself could push the design better. Not enough time for that though. I gotta do what I can.

Fabien-Clottu- Thanks for dropping by and the advice. I will see what I can do. I paint slow. LOL. I love your entry. I gotta check out what you have. I kinda swiped your image for inspiration. Hope that is fine with you. Thanks again.

Coldrum- Thanks Jeremy for dropping by. Nice ideas. I'll try what I can to get things right in this image with what you've suggested. Yeah, that leg thing was bothering me as well. I get right on that. Again, I love what you've done with your image. Huge inspiration.

xric7- Yeah, I thought that too. I will fix it. I thought seeing one of the guys faces would make the image a bit interesting, instead of seeing the back of the heads of them all. I guess it's not working. Happy new years to you too!
Ataulfo- Thanks! I am glad that you like the idea. Let see what I can do within the next few days. I think I can make it.

Hey man this is looking great! Cool choice of topic!
For crits I like what Coldrum mentioned...
I was thinking you could push the foremost first nations dude into the foreground more and push his values darker to frame a bit. You could maybe use a few more projectiles to direct the eye around where you can fit 'em in and pop the first nations dudes out more with some more design elements, traditional costume stuff, etc.

Maybe have the main figure having just fired an arrow and have that one leading the eye and adding some energy too?? You could maybe raise him and the horse up on something a bit, Frazetta style.
Maybe have the middle first nations dude looking right at the guy in blue, and hauling back with his hatchet ready to give'r and his other arm balancing out towards him, creating a lower line of flow???

I think all the elements are in place and you can just push them to make it a bit more dynamic and energetic. Sweet dude.

Nigel-Q- Hey thanks for the crits. I am already implimenting your crits and it is looking way better composition-wise. Just tweaking some things here and there to get it to look right. Thanks for the critique. How is your entry coming along? I already plan on having your entry as my desktop hehe. I love how it is looking.

themightym- Thanks, glad that it is working. I changed some things a bit though. so I have to rework it a little for the sake of better composition.

From all of the crits I've got this what I've got so far. I will work the black stallion issue a bit more. Thanks again everyone. Crits always welcome.

Here is another update. I don't think I will make it yet again. I try to paint more on this to see how far I can go. It's been fun if I don't make it. At least I've learned a few things.
