I have the idea...just need to get my butt into gear and do the concept art!

My concept is based around the Chinese myth about the New Year fireworks! The Chinese believe that by each household setting off as many fireworks as they can, they are warding off the evil dragon that flys through the skys on new years eve. They believe that if the dragon is not scared away from their house that he will enter and bring bad luck for the entire year!

My concept will be a Steampunk version of this where the dragon is a huge mechanised being that is controlled by its maker. He is the one who send the dragon out each year to terrorise the people, but I guess he is also the one who causes the beauty of the fireworks each year also! There are two side to every coin!

Anyways, that's what it is all about!

So I guess this image doesn't look too Steampunky at the moment, but it is the sketch that I am using to start the modelling! Because the image will be based around the Chinese New Year, the major colours of the dragon will be red and gold, as these are lucky colours to the Chinese! The whole dragon will be metallic and will be driven by a steam engine at it's core....The circular thing between it's eyes I will replace with a gem which essentially controls the dragon, the coresponding gem will be mounted at the top of the masters staff which I haven't yet designed!

I'll work on a couple of composition sketches and start the modelling to better illustrate what I am thinking!

Cheers!

That is a really nice concept - to make a steampunk chinese dragon. Especially if you keep the warm colors. Nice start for the modeling too, looks rather workable:thumbsup:
