View Full Version : Character - Star Girl, wip
Mystical Ninja 06-15-2003, 03:13 AM First post so Hi to All.
This is a model I've been working on for college. Shes just under 4300 faces and has 3 512*512 texture maps and taken on and off about a month to do. Its my second character model and I feel more comfortable with box modelling having done this. I have tried bones and skins to not much success, so I know I need to work on that.
Any crits and comments are most welcome.

Is there any way to get a bigger file attached, or rather a better way in photoshop to reduce file size but keep quality up. Thx

Nice Model and I especially like the texture you built... Only Crit I have at this time is that you might want to add more geometry to her shoulders to rid yourself of the nickled look. and her face seems to look like a shop window maniquenne(lifeless). Pic sizes are as you know 20000 only... Post a wire shot of her when you can ..

She looks very nice. However, I am having a difficult time seeing where the detail is in the texture on her that calls for 3 512x512 maps, especially since she appears to have the texture mirrored across her body. Is there some way you could post the texture sheets as well?

Thanks for the crits, fair comment about the mannequin face, it never really occured to me as I was building the textures. And each texture is massive, I'm pretty sure I could have got it down to 2 512*512 maps.

Good looking model and skin!
I was wondering if you were going to animate her talking. This because you've used quite a bit of detail/polys on her mouth.

Yeah at the time, I was gonna try and have her fully functional so she could walk and talk, but I'm still a bit of a 3D max beginner and I think I might have set my goals a bit too high. I've found rigging my char with bones (we weren't allowed to use character studio) has caused some unusual problems I wasn't expecting, Like knees facing inwards and arms/legs not bending correctly. I think it might be partly the pose of my character is not quite suitable for animation but mainly I'm not sure if I'm doing things correctly. I guess only practice will tell.
