Hey y'all. I intend to depict the mythological creature that is the New Zealand Taniwha. In Maori mythology Taniwha are beings that live in deep pools, in rivers, dark caves, or in the sea, especially in places with dangerous currents or deceptive breakers. Attached are images of a bone carving depiction of said creature and a maori figure to give an idea of the Maori aesthetic that I will be borrowing from.

Will post WIP as soon as it's hot off the press.

Here are some initial sketches for my second character. The Taniwha will be a guardian/companion to this character. I thought I'd start on this character first and then ease into the epic challenge that the Taniwha will be in steampunk format. I will be the first to admit that currently this character looks more 'The Piano' than Steampunk atm but it's early days yet.
